Our associations can be like Jell-O:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

We are the people we associate with. If we associate with dishonest people constantly, there is a good chance we agree with their actions and may also be dishonest. If we associate with people of integrity, it could mean that we want to be people of integrity.

Hope this lesson can of interest to youth ministries, family devotionals, and Sunday school and family home evenings.

Make Jell-O in two glass cups. When the Jell-O is set, briefly dip the cups into hot water to melt the Jell-O around the edge so you can get the Jell-O to exit the cup to place each mold on a plate. Keep one mold in the fridge where it remains cool and the other mold outside in the heat.

See which one last longer.

The Jell-O can be compare to who we associate with. Do we want to be in an environment where we can maintain our honor and integrity? Then we will want to associate with individuals who share that same goal. If not, then the heat of outside, temptation and submission to negative action to aide us in losing our form of integrity.

If you have an alternative idea on how to use the mold in cups object lesson feel free to alter it.

Thanks

How To Turn Your City Around:

Got this as an email and wanted to share it.

Melva

Provo City Library at Academy Square – Room 309
What is happening in your city? Do your city officials understand the proper role of government? Do they consistently violate constitutional principles and continue to compromise your rights by promoting sustainability (Agenda 21) and by regulating, zoning, and taxing away your freedom? Does your city council pay more attention to staff and planners than they do to the citizens who foot the bill for their grandiose ideas? This seems to be the case in the majority of cities in Utah County, but
It doesn’t have to be that way. Highland has turned things around and Pleasant Grove is beginning to move in the right direction. They are successful because they are working at the local level to restore constitutional principles from the bottom up.
What is the problem? It seems most of our city governments are getting their information by relying only on city department heads and government officials (many of whom provide plans, standards, and goals in a top-down fashion). But these people don’t apply the proper role of government or tell the disadvantages of their planning schemes. Instead, they provide the projections, estimates, and examples that support their proposals. So, until the city elected officials are all constitutional conservatives, we need to become the group that provides them with the other side of the story.
We will show you how to form a group of informed constitutional conservatives in your city and how to divide up the tasks so that each can do a small bit to restore your city. You will learn what is being done to push back, step by step by tackling City Council Meetings and City Planning Commission Meetings and by monitoring county and other meetings. Once citizens know what is going on, they can tell the other side of the story to the city councils before they vote.
We will
• help you form a constitutional city group and divide up the workload
• describe the various levels of government, how they influence each other, what meetings they have
• teach you what to attend, what to look for, what to stand up against and what to let go for now (we only pick the big stuff or they will not listen)
• explain how to talk to or write the city council
• show how to get all this information to the group so all are updated continually.

Spelling Thorough:

I consistently have problems with this one. Especially when I spell things like I pronounce them.

Bad: thorow
Good: thorough

This may be a desperate idea but we’ll see if it helps me remember. When do a detailed, hight quality or thorough job you make rough things smooth. Like doing a thorough job sanding down a wood or stone object. It is smooth and no longer rough. So that may help me that I avoid rough edges if I am thorough.

Have a better way to remember? Please provide your idea in the comment section of this blog. Thanks.

Last year I attend LTUE and took some great notes on a number of great panels. Here are my notes on marketing yourself. Enjoy.

– Offer a variety of choices. Variation in your work.
– Use a variety of words that are natural for you.
– Style is different for different writers as influenced by their life experience.
– The more senses you use in the scene. The more memorable. The scene. Create a more visual sing.
– Four ways to access your consciousness.
– A: Those in thought. Read your project. Just before you go to sleep. Let your brain work on it during the night and allow yourself relax five minutes snooze button, so your brain can finish cooking up the idea to document. Write down immediately what you come up with.
– B: recreational thought, take a walk and during the walk, think about. You must be solo and avoid distractions and not listen to music.

Law suit protection:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

A year ago I attended a workshop on business. Here are some of the things I learned about law suite protection.

– Lawyers, except case, if contingent on winning, which means that they get around 40% of the earnings. To defend themselves, corporations pay hundreds of dollars an hour to a lawyer to defend the business. Lawyers will do an asset search. There are websites that will offer this service. For example, Zillo.com, gives values of the work of a home.
– When someone does an asset search on your name you want to look broke it will discourage them from pursuing a lawsuit.
– Types of suits:
– divorce,
– Employee action: homeowners insurance policy will only pay up to the coverage limit such as 300k
– Joint ownership pitfalls.
– When someone uses a general partnership, both the liable for suing.
– Individuals that help with the paperwork can be seen as corporate officers or implied officer
– Owning an asset that hurt somebody
– Corporations help partners become investors.
– Corporations generally protects you are personal assets.
– Close loopholes to prevent suing:
– Suits can take assets of businesses.
– Don’t own the trading account in the business. Corporations cannot protect it.
– Pierce the corporate veil: lawyers will ask for corporate minutes and paperwork.
– Offices and director are liable. If judge feels the Corporation is a sham. They were usually vote against the business if judge feels the Corporation is a sham. They were usually vote against the business.
– You can be sued because you’re the owner of an asset is dangerous. Such as if you’re the parent of a teenage driver is an accident, you can be sued.
– Insurance company may not cover you even though you paid the premiums
– Solution against lawsuits: lawsuit protection entity. Which means the only way to win against a lawsuit is not to get sued. Lawsuit protection entity discourages lawyers from pursuing the sue process.
– Wills automatically are taken to probate, and all the family’s private information is exposed publicly, which makes everyone targets for identity theft.
– A living trust can protect against probate. Create a trust by filling out the forms. This is good because all the private information of the family remains private. Having a trust will not protect you from a lawsuit. Trust only helps with probates.

Is there room in our lives for God:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

At church heard some great thoughts on how we can get so busy that we don’t let God into our lives. The teacher brought up a very good example. We recall from the scriptures that When Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem, there was no room in the in. He compared it to how we may not have room in our lives for Christ because of other pursuits. I hope the following theme can be of use to youth ministries, family counselors, family devotionals, Sunday schools and family home evenings.

Object lesson: room in our lives.
Get a tall cup and start cramming a bunch of small marshmallows as tightly as possible into the cup as you can. Press them in hard and tight as you can. Now try to pour water in the tightly crammed dup and you will see that not much goes in because the space is filled in by marsh mellow.

Now put that cup in the microwave and turn on the heat. The marshmallows will swell and may spill over the top.

What can we learn from this lesson. We can fill our lives with items of little substance such as marshmallows. You can discuss as a family or a class what types of objects we fill our lives with to represent the marshmallows. We can see their worth by applying a little heat. They don’t stand well under the heat.

Put in items of strong substance in our lives and it can endure more effectively in the heat or trials of life. Talk about ways how we can fill our lives with things related to God. It can range from being truly Christian in following Christ’s example. We can endeavor to be good people and making better choices in our lives.

If you have other ideas to add to this theme, please feel free to add them in the comment section of this blog. Thanks

The type of speeches given at Toast Masters:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are the minutes taken from our secretary from our last meeting.

Bill was our first speaker tonight: “His talk was on the Little Red Hen Story” We have all read it or have had it read to us as children. The story starts out at a farm in the country; a little red hen found some wheat on the ground and asked her friends if they would help her to till the soil and plant the wheat. But all of them replied in the negative or no action to help her. Then she asked them to help her to water and weed the newly sprouted wheat. The answer was still no. She asked her friends to help in all the phases of growing, watering, weeding, and finally harvesting and grinding the wheat. The answer was always no .She even asked them to help her make the bread with the fresh ground wheat. Still couldn’t get their help, but after the bread was all baked and ready to eat, they all wanted a portion of the bread. But the little Red Hen wouldn’t share any of it with them. In fact she ate in front of them and put some lip smacking butter on the warm and toasty bread along with some mouthwatering strawberry jam on top. She enjoyed the fruit of her labors. Moral of the story is that we need to work for our daily bread in life! I enjoyed your story Bill. Looking forward to hearing some more tall tales.

Steven gave his “Ice Breaker” tonight. Stevens’s life is somewhat like George Baily in “It’s a Wonderful Life” A movie which was portrayed in the 1940’s. Stevens’ story is about his life when he was a teenager or a little older if I remember the story right. Anyway his life was going along pretty smoothly and he wasn’t making any life changing mistakes until he was listening to some Christmas music on his car radio, which put him to sleep as he was driving. He awoke when he heard a loud crash of his car hitting another car head on in the opposite lane of traffic. He blacked out after he heard that crash, then all he could see was white and he thought he was dead then he was awoken by his window being smashed in and feeling cold air on his face. Then a man opened the door and moved him from his burning car. After all this happened he thanked God for sparing his life and giving him a second chance. After his prayer he heard or had a thought come into his mind saying! Get your head in the game or I am going to pull you out! Great talk, keep up the good work.

Jim was our third speaker tonight: His talk was on fear of computers and how to get over that fear. He mentioned how we could be more confident in learning how to solve the problems with our computers with the internet and google the answers we need. You would be amazed what you can learn from videos you find on these sites. That backing up your files on a backup drive is good practice and should be done often. Good information on problem solving on the computer. Keep up the good work. He mentioned how we can use our skills with computers to make a more successful club by sharing what we do, via technology.

If anyone has attended toast masters speech organization, please feel free to share what you learned while there. Please do so in the comment section of this blog.

Suggestions on trading as a business:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

A year ago I attended a workshop on investments. Here are some of the things I learned about dong trading as a business.

– If you’re an investor your scene to have a hobby and investors can only get reductions for the 3000 other losses.
– You want to be considered as a trader. That means investors need to do frequent and short purchases. They must also spend a lot of time during the day trading, also they see trades only your own account as problematic.
– Use the Corporation to manage trading and not as investor business. Why do you want to have Corporation as a traitor? Because the IRS perceives your business more quickly as a C Court. And as a C Court. You also earn more tax deductions.
– Manage your business means deciding what your best in. Etc.
– You must have a plan for your money.
