Last year I attend LTUE and took some great notes on a number of great panels. Here are my notes on marketing yourself. Enjoy.

– Get the first paragraph to sing.
– Synopsis just the facts of the main plot.
– First reference to characters names in’s

– You may be successful in a field. You don’t expect.
– What books you’re known for, or those that you write the most.
– Elevator pitch. You have nine seconds to sell your book to someone in an elevator than 30 seconds to follow up. In a pitch picked to things that they can relate to, i.e. zombies meet Greek wedding. Tell me what the book is about by given the stakes, the character is facing.
– Never pay someone to read your book.
– He knows retaining his submission restrictions just don’t submit to different agents at the same agency at the same time.
– Contracts: read the contract and look upward, you don’t understand. Know the point that you will and walk away
