Good: condiments

Bad:   condements

I keep wanting to spell with an E. This one might work. Often if you want something extra for your hamburger you need to pay extra. Well think of paying a dime to get additional conDIMEnts.

Funding the publication of your books:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on funding the publication of your book. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

Make a list of businesses who want to be in for in the front of your book but who services don’t compete with yours.

  • Make a list of the already established small to middle level companies that target advertising to your target audience. Don’t bother with large corporations as they take too long to make a decision.
  • If someone wants to see part of the book show that the first couple of chapters but put in each header draft. Big companies need to show that a book exists to be legal on the funding.
  • For a marriage book some of the advertisers might be a florist, planner, memo, dress, caterer, photographer, jewelry, DJ. In payment they get pre-published books distribute to their customers. You have only about 12 ads to pay for your book.
  1. Interview campaign. When you designate a certain time period to conduct an interview you keep to that time. If they ask for longer let them know you have other appointments.
  2. Just as you’re leaving you may want to say quote “one more thing. My publisher has a way for you to benefit from all the promotions and publicity when this book is launched. Is that something you want more information about at some point?
  • You can also ask it in contact them again to show which quote you use the book. As you introduce yourself you do not use yourself as your current occupation but rather that you’re an author.
  1. If you want to give your book an international flair then seek out interviews from people in other countries. Skype and other technologies can help you achieve this.
  2. You can measure your success by the number of interviews success rate. If you do seven out of 10 successful interviews you doing things correctly. When you interact with the interviewer your attitude as an author needs to be present.
  3. Buy now cards. These cards are used so people can buy your book prior to publication. Items on the card should include: book title, includes a free 30 minute coach session. Publication date, QR code, credit card information that can be torn off
  4. Sell ads. Resources the authors recommend are put in the back of the book. There will be only one person represented for a certain business. For each ad sold, that client gets a certain number of books to give to their customers.
  5. You can sell a feature profile. With some professional gives an article that provides a chapter in the book. This might be a two-page spread with the left side being a picture and bio and on the right side is a short article. The content needs to be useful information not a sales pitch example might be dress for success by a real estate business woman.
  6. Bonus chapter 10 – 20 pages complementary information that does not compete with your content. It cannot be a commercial that contain useful content. The law firm arranged to have written. This internal profile my cost $3-$4000 for a law firm that is a much money. When you ask for charges your charge is not from the mindset of what you can afford but they pay the value of what they’re getting.
  7. Sell a speech: someone may have a customer appreciation event. Create a presentation that will be useful to your target audience such as building children’s self-esteem. You market the event where parents of the school children are invited to come. Invite them for free. Bring books to sell, but indicate that part of the proceeds is going toward a certain charity. You never know when you need a copy of an order form, a copy of your book cover or video of your charity you support. On your person a USB port that will contain all three.
  • Blame your publisher for being pushy. Asking them to buy a certain number of books. As for the sale and then give a portion to charity. All charities have videos

CERT: Chapter 8 Terrorism and CERT Part C:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here is a continuation of notes from my CERT training discussing terrorism and what we as CERT do about it or rather not do about it. The following notes are directly from the CERT book. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

Biological weapons:

Biological agents are found in nature and can also be manufactured. It is possible to weaponize biological agents so they can be assimilated to effect broad segments of the population, animal population or crops.

Some biological agent or contagious but many are not. Routes of exposure for biological weapons are

  • Inhalation
  • Ingestion
  • Absorption

Many biological agents take days or weeks for their symptoms to appear. It is possible for an attack to occur and remain unnoticed for some time. Some people may be affected before it’s clear that the attack has occurred.

It is also possible contagious biological agents to spread far beyond their initial point of contamination by the daily rounds of affected people broaden the reach of the agent for beyond the initial contamination. Those biological weapons are considered high risk.

Radio-logical weapons:

Radiation is energy in the form of waves or particles given off during radioactive decay or as consequence of certain physical processes that we can control. Examples or x-ray machines particle accelerators. Radiation cannot be seen, smelled otherwise detected by normal senses. High doses or prolonged exposure to radiation can cause radiation sickness and possibly death.

Radiation dispersal devices (RDDs) may be revised explosive devices, also called dirty bombs. They can include non—explosive devices that could be used to spread radioactive materials as well. A bomb is not necessary to disperse radioactive materials; they can come in solids, liquids or powdered forms which can spread conveniently. Major impact of a dirty bomb is produced by the blast. RDDs are considered to be much higher threat because radio-logical materials are much easier to obtain than enriched nuclear materials. The technology required to detonate an RDD is similar to have involved in detonating conventional explosives.

Radio-logical materials are readily available in hospitals and other medical facilities, University science laboratories, and many products with commercial uses. Terrorists who would attack using RDD would need relatively small amounts of radioactive material to make an effective device. As such, radiological weapons are considered a moderate to high risk.

Nuclear weapons:

A Nuclear weapon is an explosive device that derives its destructive force from nuclear reaction. All nuclear devices cause deadly effects plant exploded, including blinding light, intense heat, initial nuclear radiation, blast, fires started by the heat pulse, secondary fires caused by the destruction, and widespread radioactive material that can contaminate the air, water and ground services for miles around.

A nuclear device can range from a weapon carried by an intercontinental missile launch by a hostile nation or terrorist organization, to a small portable nuclear device transported by an individual. Terrorists seeking to use nuclear weapons may try to obtain nuclear warhead from within a country known to possess nuclear weapons or they may acquire fissile material in order to make a much smaller nuclear bomb, known as improvised nuclear device.

A terrorist attack with a nuclear weapon would be much different from attack with a conventional explosive device.

  • The affected area would be much larger than any conventional explosion, and debris and other usually harmless items would be contaminated.
  • Due to radioactive contamination, there would be potential for physical injury and death to persons who are not injured during the initial attack. People may also become injured in the resulting damaged environment.
  • Long-term health effects would be more difficult to ascertain and manage.
  • Experts believe that the complexities of terrorist groups obtaining a nuclear to and maintaining the tolerances that required for the weapon to function make the use of nuclear weapons by terrorists a low risk.

Confidence by Keith Johnson:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended the get motivated seminar and took notes on various motivational speakers as well as people selling the product. Here are some comments by Keith Johnson. Any misinformation or misquotes is the fault of the note taker.

  • You should be further along than you are. Everyone has unleashed potential.
  • Ask yourself what is stopping me?
  • What you find out what is holding you back to take steps to fix what’s holding you back.
  • Be BIW= best in world.
  • Those who rise to the top do so because of confidence.
  • Why is the lion considered the king of the forest. All the creatures are afraid. It does not go to prey and ask may I eat you. The lion takes the pray. The animals of the forest fear the roar.
  • You deserve to live successfully.
  • Three confidence robbers are: fear, uncertainty, and self-doubt. Go through fear and you can achieve your full potential.
  • Reach for people who are 10 times better than you.
  • MIA: take massive intelligent action.
  • Confidence helps you achieve your dreams.
  • Confidence produces the assistance and assistance produces prosperity.
  • Does my self-image equal the size of my dream for your future?
  • Failure is not a person it is an event to delay your path to success.
  • If I create negative images of myself I create positive images of myself.
  • I believe with every cell of my body I will be a success in life. Tell this to yourself.
  • Lookup zigs Ziglar presentations on YouTube.
  • Melva’s quote she came up with: a small seed begins in a small space.

Seven steps to writing a book in 40 hours:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using your books to build your credentials and to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on Seven steps to writing a book in 40 hours. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

  1. Brainstorm 15 chapter titles. Not everything written down as to be perfect. For a sell’s book such chapter titles might include: closing the sale, prospecting, handling objections, exceptional rapport with the customer, dress or networking.
  2. Cut those 15 chapters down to 10. Then order them in logical sequence. Some contents of the 15 chapters might be combined.
  • As you work on obtaining content for your chapters you will want to delete yourself as to your current occupation. You will introduce yourself as an author. I.e.: I’m the author of an upcoming book titled ‘Title’. I’m interested in gaining 20 minutes of your time to learn your perspective on the subject. (This is not precise phrasing to the book it was offered)
  1. For each chapter create 18 independent subtopics on that topic.
  2. Focus and narrow down those 18 topics down to 15 and put them in order.
  3. Make a significant statement that will tap into the emotional and logical reader. An example of this might be the topic of self-esteem. Confidence is emotional. Or to phrase it differently: When you believe in yourself you win at selling.
  4. Turn your titles of your chapters into a question. A type of question that your target audience will asks. An example you have to believe in yourself. Why must you believe in yourself to make a successful sale? Avoid questions are yes no but are open-ended.
  5. Have the chapter topic answer three things. This could be a brief review of the most important points of your book

CERT: Chapter 8 Terrorism and CERT Part B:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here is a continuation of notes from my CERT training discussing terrorism and what we as CERT do about it or rather not do about it. The following notes are from the CERT book. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

One of the reasons I’m transferring the book into blogs, is I want to concentrate the material into a smaller space so I can then print them out and have them available to block captains for use in case of emergency.

Terrorist weapons:

There are five categories of possible terrorist weapons. The acronym CBRNE can be used to help you remember.

  • Chemical
  • Biological
  • Radiological
  • Nuclear
  • high – yield explosives
  • These CBRNE may occur accidentally such as a truck accident or naturally such as paramedic influenza.
  • Another type of terrorism is deliberate, large-scale disruption of computer networks. This is known as Siebel terrorism. To protect against cyber terrorism is important that computers users use appropriate security measures.

Chemical weapons:

Unlike biological agents or nuclear materials, which are hard to produce, the ingredients for chemical weapons are found in common products and petrochemicals.

Blister agents: cause blisters, burns and other tissue damage. Exposure may be made to liquid or vapor contact with any exposure to our skin, inhalation, or ingestion. Blister agents include several families of chemicals, including mustard and lewisite. The effects of blister agents may be similar to those experienced by riot control agents like teargas but do not clear upon movement into fresh air. The effects of most blister agents increase with time and may reach full impact for 12 to 18 hours.

Blood agents: are absorbed into the bloodstream and deprive blood cells of oxygen. Exposure may be made through liquid or vapor contact with any exposed skin, inhalation or ingestion. Blood agents include two main families of chemicals, including hydrogen cyanide and cyanogen chloride. Those who are affected by blood agents may appear “wish” across the nose and cheeks and around the mouth. As symptoms of blood agents’ progress, the victim may convulse and lose consciousness.

Choking agents: attack the lungs. Following exposure through inhalation, the lungs fill with fluid, which prevents oxygen from being absorbed by, and carbon dioxide from being removed from, the blood. Death results for lack of oxygen and a similar to drowning. To con example of choking agents are phosgene and chlorine.

Nerve agents: affect the central nervous system. These agents act most quickly and are the most lethal of all chemical agents, acting within seconds of exposure. Victims of nerve agents experience constricted pupils, runny nose, shortness of breath, convulsions, and cessation of breathing. Sarah and is an example of a nerve agent.

Riot – control agents: cause respiratory distress and tearing and are designed to incapacitate rather than kill. Riot – control agents cause intense pain, especially when it can contact with mucous membranes such areas as eyes, nose, and mouth. And riot control agents include “tear” gas and capsicum, (also called pepper spray)

The onset of symptoms that result from chemical weapons can race for immediate to 18 hours following exposure. Chemical weapons are considered a moderate risk.

More notes coming next week.

Notes on success by Bob Kittell:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended the get motivated seminar and took notes on various motivational speakers as well as people selling the product. Here are some comments by Bob Kittell. Any misinformation or misquotes is the fault of the note taker.

  • Success is when I get up when I am not down.
  • You become what you think about most often.
  • Be the student and find the teacher.
  • He gave a presentation on how to remember the original United States colonies. I’ve modified some of the mnemonics since I can’t remember the original ones (ha ha) but these are fit for me better anyway. I don’t think he did all 13 but here are some of them.
  • Delaware: the door is covered with deli sandwiches
  • Georgia: George Washington climbing a tree
  • Pennsylvania: the exit sign above the door is made out of pencils
  • New Jersey: the speaker on the stage is covered with the New Jersey college jersey.
  • Connecticut: envision the stage being cut up with a series of scissors.
  • Massachusetts: envision a very large person dropping from the seething down to the stage shattering the stage.
  • Don’t encourage others to follow your footsteps unless you’re willing to walk.
  • When you shine you give others permission to shine.
  • If you’re in a hard space, you are at the point of the next inspirational story.
  • As yourself who’s life can I change today?
  • There are three types of action: make things happen, watch what happens, what happened
  • You just need to change the right thing.
  • Goal: in the next 24 hours think of one thing in your life that you can let go of IE resentment etc.
  • Goal: think of one person you do something nice to/for.

Conference call from Gov. Candidate Jonathan Johnson:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Out of the blue while I was practicing story telling for my performance tomorrow I got connected to a conference call hosted by Gov. candidate Jonathan Johnson. I like that Mile Lee does this. I think it’s a smart move for Johnson to do so as well.

The other thing I liked was they got feedback on different topics by pushing a button on the phone to vote. Talk about immediate feedback.

Any inaccurate info displayed below is the fault of the note taker.

Here are some of the comments made during the broadcast.

Utah water:

  • Price water at its actual cost and not give it subsidies.
  • Promote conservation efforts.
  • Find new ways to capture the water more efficiently.
  • We send more water down river than we are contracted for to CA.
  • We send the extra water do it for free. NV state charges.

Common core:

  • Did it for a promise for federal funds.
  • We lost two ways.
  • We didn’t get the federal money.
  • We got stuck with common core.
  • Wants our state board to bring up a variety of standards that schools districts and parents can select options.
  • 10% of funds spent at state dept.
  • One superintendent said 65% of his budget made it to classroom that means 35% didn’t
  • A lot of money spent on the sage test. Sage not used for grading or teaching. Teachers don’t know what’s in it. It only does data mining.
  • Like a choice in school options. Make it easier to personalize children’s education.

Transfer of public lands for Utah.

  • 30,000 acers controlled by managed lands (Not sure if I heard this fact correctly).
  • Access to land for the public is decreased to state and county residents.
  • Schools in Garfield don’t have access to funds or access to lands that would provide funding. People have to move.
  • Beetle bug infestation.
  • Sue federal government.
  • Governor wants to be moderate in tone = so no action has been done against federal lands.

Transportation:

  • 80% paid by tax payers.
  • Feel that the board should be elected if we fund most of transportation.
  • Board should operate in a transparent way.
  • Trenched politicians are selecting people who are not made accountable.
  • Want to start term limits and have the governor serve term limits.
  • Past governors passed a bunch of bills without reading them, so they don’t know what’s in them.
  • Legislature passed about 500 bills. Want to cut that number down. Feels some should be vetoed. 100 of them were where educations are being told what to do.
  • Changes should not reign down from the state.

Coal industry:

  • Want to find ways to sell our clean coal to countries that are using dirty coal.

Contact info on the candidate:

  • com web site.
  • Ph: 801-892-0401
  • Johnathan Johnson face book page. You’re encouraged to share it.
  • On Hirejj.com web site, look at the issues tab to see his principals.
