Spelling appetite:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Good: appetite

Bad: appertite

Much of the problem of spelling this word is because I mispronounce of the word. I keep outing in the R. One does not want to keep Returning to the table just because You have a large appetite. Thus avoid the R.

Another way, sometimes pets have a problem with over eating because of the abundance of food they have access to. They beg  and get fed. So apPETite.

Business end of using your book to promoting clients:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on Business End of Using Your Book to Promoting Clients. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

The following formula is to find out how you can increase your business through referral. Those new referrals may come from reading your book.

Calculate your magic number:

  • Initial sales of your service (example = 500
  • Number of referrals from one client = 2
  • Referral income = 1000
  • Magic number = 2 500
  • Set the price of your book on the high side of average. Then as you give it away or give a discount the perceived value is higher.
  • For speaking engagement as an author don’t accept anything less than $2500
  • As you grow your business you can train others to share your knowledge as coaches of your business. The closer customers get to you the more they pay.
  • Sources of income can include new clients, book sells, speaking engagements, seminar tickets, coaching, and ads in the back of your book. The ads in the book will be from products that can complement yours but are not in competition with you.
  • This is not about just slapping a book together. Your book will change people’s lives. You can always edit a bad page but you can’t edit a blank page.
  • Get it down then get it right.
  • Know the voices in your head can discourage you from accomplishing goals. You have to interrupt the pattern of negativity that stopped you in the past. You need to train your brain with new positive self-talk words. It’s like a captain giving orders to the crew.
  • If you cannot move out of your comfort zone you will find ways to the stop moving forward and taking action.
  • Check out the movie the closer (listen to the opening scene and pay attention to the counsel there.

CERT: Chapter 8 Terrorism and CERT part A:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here are a new set of notes from my CERT training discussing terrorism and what we as CERT do about it or rather not do about it.

What is terrorism?

State Department labels it as the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

Terrorism may be perpetuated by foreign or domestic individuals or groups.

Examples of terrorism in the United States:

  • Bombing of the World Trade Center 1993.
  • Bombing of Alfred P Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City 1995.
  • Bombing of the Atlantic Olympic Games 1996. Bombing at family planning clinics and gay bars in the Atlantic area 1996 – 1997.
  • The destruction of the World Trade Center and a portion of the Pentagon 2001.
  • The sending of anthrax through United States mail 2001

Each of these incidents demonstrates that we live with the possibility of additional terrorist attacks on our own soil.

Terrorist goals:

Terrorist attacks can occur with or without warning. Because of the nature of terrorist attacks, they can and often intended to result in:

  • Mass casualties.
  • Loss of critical resources.
  • Disruption of vital services.
  • Disruption of the economy.
  • Heightened fear.

Terrorist targets:

Terrorist choose a targets to meet specific goals. Oklahoma bombing was a strike against the federal government. 9/11 attacks targeted both our economic center and our military establishment are raising cash to levels to new heights and changing the way Americans think about their safety.

Terrace may select “soft” or lightly protected targets over “hard” a very secure targets.

Potential terrorist targets might include:

  • Seeds of government.
  • Key industries.
  • Bridges, subways, tunnels, and other key transportation facilities.
  • Water supplies and utilities.
  • Places of historical significance.
  • Terrace may also be drawn to major events such as parades athletic and entertainment events. Because of this you may have seen increased security measures to help deter terrorism

Spelling adrenaline:

Good: adrenaline

Bad:   adrellion

You can detect it someone’s heart is pumping with adrenaline by the rapid rise and fall of the line of heartbeat.  The more frequent the rise and fall the more pump of adrenaline. The problem area for the word for me is the adre-NA-Line. If I can pronounce it properly this could improve my success rate.

CERT: Chapter 7 Disaster Psychology C:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here is my additional CERT training concentrated upon the psychological environment created by a traumatic event.  This comes from the book.

Stabilizing victims:

  • The goal of unseen psychological intervention on the part of certain members should be to stabilize the incident scene by stabilizing individuals. What you need to address the medical needs you also need to provide psychological intervention in the following ways.
  • Observe individuals determine the level of responsiveness whether they pose a danger to themselves or others.
  • The uninjured people involved in helping. Engage survivors in focus activity helps them cope, so give them constructive old jobs to do such as organizing supplies. This strategy is especially effective for survivors who are being disruptive.
  • Help survivors connect to natural support systems, such as family, friends or clergy.

Provide support by:

  • Listening to them talk about their feelings and their physical needs. Victims can need to talk to about what they’ve been through – and they want someone to listen to them.
  • Empathizing candidate responses show victims as someone else shares their the means of pain and grief

Be an empathetic listener:

  • We present an opportunity to listen and let the victim talk. Good listeners will
  • Put yourself in the speaker shoes in order to better understand their point of view. Job on past experiences a try to imagine how the speaker is feeling. In order to limit the effects on precarious trauma, be careful not to completely take on the speaker’s feelings.
  • Listen for the meaning, not just words, and pay close attention to the speaker’s nonverbal communication, such as body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. Paraphrase the speaker periodically to make sure that you have to minister the speaker says in this shows are you listening. This reinforces the communication process
  • Survivors that show evidence of being suicidal, psychotic or unable to care for themselves should be referred to mental health professionals for support. (This will be infrequent in most groups of survivors)

What not to say:

  • When providing support, you should avoid seeing the following phrases. These, his mace intended to give comfort that they may be misinterpreted
  • I understand – low situations you can understand unless we have had the same experience
  • Don’t feel bad – despite has a right to feel bad need time to feel. You are strong or will get through this – we survivors don’t feel strong impression they will recover from the loss.
  • Don’t cry – it’s okay to cry.
  • It’s God’s will – with the person you do not know. Regis meaning to an event may insult or anger the person. It could be worse – at least you still have – – or anything will be okay – it’s up to the individual to decide whether things could be worse with anything can be okay. Rather than provide comfort these responses elicited strong negative emotions and distances driver from a. Its okay to apologize the survivor reacts negatively

Managing the Death Scene:

One unpleasant task of a certain member is the death: one challenge of CERT is when someone dies while under their care. This is what to do

  • Cover the body; treated with respect. Wrap mutilated bodies tightly.
  • Is someone has died in the treatment area moved them to the temporary morgue. The settlement is tag is dead during triage, not remove it from your area. Follow local laws and protocols for handling the deceased. Talk with local authorities to determine the plan
  • Informing family and friends of a death
  • In some cases family members or friends may not know of the death of a loved one can certainly was me to tell them. In this situation do the following
  • Separate the family members and friends from others in a quiet private place. Have the persons sit down, if possible.
  • Make a contest and music calm, kind voice.
  • Use the following words to tell the family members and friends about the death.
  • Quote sorry, but your family member has died. I’m so sorry. Quote is okay to reference the deceased worsens name on their relationship survivor if you know. Let the family members and friends green.

Helpful Local Job Search Tips:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I can’t find the web address I found this on. I should have documented it at the tiem I saved these notes. Sorry original author.

  • Don’t pass the opportunity to be in the zone. One of the most common local job search mistakes is keeping your options limited. For instance, there are those local job search applicants who apply to one position and completely wait it out before finding another opportunity in case of a rejection. Here is the thing, you are wasting a lot of time where you could have been more active in your local job search! If you get the interview, it does not automatically mean getting an offer, so while the wheels have yet to turn in one prospect, the best thing to do is keep moving and continue with the local job search with other companies and openings. The worst thing that can come out of this is you’d have to decide between offers in the end!
  • Take job descriptions seriously. This is a very common local job search mistake entry level people often make. When they see job descriptions, they are very quick to turn their nose up on it once they realize it is not an offer for their dream job or when they find out they do not have all of the qualifications needed. While it is wise to know what your skills are worth, there is also a lot of wisdom in going for interviews because it gives you good experience. Being flexible is the key to a successful local job search. Going around like you are some mummy in a terrible cast is surely not the way to local job search gold.
  • Thank You notes. A thank you note is your last chance to remind the hiring manager of your brilliance and while it can be easy to go overboard, it is a must to not come across as desperate with the thank you note. Keep it simple, fresh, and without a lot of “deep thought”. Make your thank you note perfect for the local job search by keeping it short and sweet, around four to eight sentences maximum.
  • Add references with care. You have to assume that  the hiring managers will contact the references that you write in your resume so make sure you pre-screen them to avoid disasters. The last thing you want on your local job search is for a reference to say something bad about you. It is best to write former employers or managers, and while the occasional colleague is okay, make sure you do not go in filling the reference section with your friends who cannot do anything to help you land the position you are after in the local job search.
