Good: sabotage
Bad: sabotage

I admit, sometimes I get desperate. We’ll see if this works. Once can do an act of sabotage by delivering a package with something bad in it to an enemy location. The o looks like a container that you can’t see what’s inside. So remember the O

Self-Editing tips for authors Part B:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

This is a continuation of my notes about self-editing, offered by Talsa Sainz.

Categories: the task by color
 red: deleted.
 Diction: orange
 Narration: green
 Dialog: blue
 Function: yellow
Delete? Red: deleted every unnecessary word. Cut at least 10% every single word is necessary. I.e.: that, time words, intensifiers, empty words, clichés contracts.
 Do a CTR F to search out these words. If have the same world of that twice on a page. Can rephrase the sentence for that if needed
 Time words: when, then, suddenly, currently, began to, started to. Etc.
 Intensifiers; i.e.: really, very, absolutely, strongly a little, rather, quite, a bit, always, never i.e.: she was very gorgeous.
 Mark Twain: subtitle “damn’ every time you’re inclined to write ‘very,’ your editor will delete it and the writing ….
 Empty words: it is, there was, in order to, thing, just, stuff.
 Delete clichés: if overused, they weaken the writing. If used correctly and in the right context great.
 Delete contractions: The narrator should not use most contractions. They’re, you’re, he’s she’d, I’m etc.
 Use only if your MC uses it. It’s hard for the reader. Don’t use them unless you need them.
Diction: change
 Resist the urge to explain.
 Ex: Johnny pounded on the table.\
 Diction: hedging, weak verb, negatives usage redundancies. Want verbs to be evocative. Search ly verbs.
 Ex: john left the room. John stormed out of the room.
 Hedging: appearance, indication, inference, likelihood, possibly, probably, suggestions, tendency, to my knowledge.
 Adjective: apparent, certain, consistent with, few, many, most, possible, presumed, probable, punitive, several, some, supposed
 Ex: he annoyed with her
 She that she to say the wrong thing
 He that she knew how tired he was > she knows how tired I am. Or >Does she know how tired I am?
 Adverbs (hedging (: about, apparently, arguably, fairly, in general, largely, likely, more or less, mostly, often perhaps, possibly, presumably, probably, quite, rather, unlikely.
 Diction: negatives: do not waste your words explained what is not happening
 He say anything
 The room got quiet.
 You want to make these mistakes in our writing. You want to avoid those mistakes in your writing.
Diction: correct usage: your/you’re
 They/ their/ they’re
 Good/ well i.e.: I’m doing well
 Affect/effect
 Then/than
 To/too/two
Diction: substitute redundancies:
 Clap your hands
 Shrug your shoulders
 Nodded her head
 Blinked his eyes
 The sound of the bells ringing
 Sat down on the couch
 Screaming loudly

Becoming united in our approach to finances

These are notes from a finance class offered at church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.
– Exercise faith in Christ
– The path of self-reliance is a journey of faith
– Faith in action:
– Daniel 6:21-23
– Alma 37:40-41
– Malaki 3:10
– 1 King 17:
– Isiah 41:17
– Gen 3:19

– President Kimball: The responsibility of each person’s social, emotional, spiritual, physical, or economic well-being rests first upon himself, second upon his family, and third upon the church.
– The Lord does not expect us to work harder then we are able. Br. Urdorf:
– Work is an antidote for anxiety. Br. Urdorf:
– When our wagon is stuck in the mud, God is more likely to help the man who gets out and push than the man who raises his voice in prayer.
– Satan thrives on discord.
– Striving to develop good spending habits, build up savings, and reduce and eliminate debt will invite the spirit into your relationships.

Here are some notes from church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

– Ingratitude is not recognizing when someone has hot helped us. It is worse if we know we have been helped and not appreciate that help.
– Life never gets better than this when we can have our chief needs taken care of.
– Simplest definitions of worship is gratitude.
– We have the whole day of the Sabbath to be grateful.
– D&C 59:10-14 day appointed day offer sacraments and pay thy devotions.
– Each of us has a backpack that contains experiences, sins, things that are important, worries, burdens. Each Sunday we bring our backpacks to church and temporally put them aside. We may not leave anything behind but the backpack is lighter. Take the sacrament to abolish sin. Leave burdens.
– May gratitude be the pillow where you kneel for your daily prayer?
– If one morning you woke up and only saw before you the things you expressed gratitude for. What would you see?
– Elain jack: those who are spiritually mature are those who are humble and express their blessings.

Take the Holy Spirit as your guide

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Inspired by talk from Elder y Wilson. May 2018 Here are some notes from church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

– How do you take the Holy Spirit as your guide?
– The Holy Spirit is the life of Christ.
– We often take it for granted, we expect it to be just around.
– Book: more than the tattooed women. She didn’t want to join the church but she liked the missionaries. She realized later she liked them that they had the gift of the Holy Ghost.
– Other people who don’t have the Holy Ghost can often see people who are different from those who do have it.
– Sometimes we will let the concerns of the world fill our minds and we don’t think of neutering the Holy Ghost.
– Often we are one prayer away from getting help.
– Different ways we can take the Holy Spirit as our guide obedience, repent, live a clean and faithful life.
– The Holy Spirit responds to us as individuals via personal revelation.
– The more we recognize the moments we have the spirit the more we can acknowledge future events.
– Often people say think that spirit is not responding to them. The spirit is trying to speak to us we are just not acknowledging it.
– We need to access the spirit during calm waters so that when there is a typhoon we can still recognize it.
– Prepare the land or the soil prior to getting the prompt of the spirit by how you live your life, your humility, and openness to counsel.
– 3 Nephi 9:20: a broken heart and contrite spirit
– One person will keep a notebook in their possession and write down a moment of inspiration.
