Here are some notes on a great panel at Life the Universe and Everything SF/F symposium. The topic is storytelling and roleplaying for writing.

– Sometimes if you need to write a scene with sensory details that actually act out the situation. For example, if you need to know how it feels to walk out in the cold without a coat without shoes accede do it and observe the sensory details of the doubt in the snow and the transition of sensory details when you come back indoors.
– One author wrote a book about the gods of cool which some of the gods represented by God, a fashion got a vanity, etc. The concept got developed by role-playing with some friends.
– An author of romance in order for her to write realistic scenes of kissing will ask her husband that she wants a board in for a moment so that she can see how the placement of hands would be during the kids.
– Another idea is that outside of the character’s home. There is a murderer. Prior to the murder. The character. He is a unique whistle.
– The police knocked on the door and report the murder the kid has no idea who did it, but when they attend a bar. They hear the same whistle.
– If someone says something quirky that could be a source of the story.

Different types of emergencies require different responses:

I attended an emergency fair and took notes on Preparing for different type of emergencies.

– First hour:
Prepare for the worst. Sometimes it’s a short-term emergency. You will want to have access to first aid. You want determine the location of the threat, such as earthquakes, tornado, hurricane, ice storms, plague. Prepare for harsh weather especially cold weather.
You will want to have access to the appropriate clothing. A storm can kill you if you expose for over 40 minutes. This is a good example of what you prepare for the worst.
Cold weather results with hypothermia. Research has shown that hypothermia could begin at temperatures of even if 50 or 60° with a win factor combined with being wet. You want to get out of wet clothes in the dry clothes. You want to get access to a heavy-duty jacket extra change of clothes and extra warm socks.
– Medicine: You want to have this with you at all times, if you depend upon certain things.
– Personal safety: After a solar storm in New York City, where they lost the power looting began within 10 minutes, sometimes stilling things, though not even a value such as manhole covers.
– Emergencies happen at inconvenient times though multiple examples of where the Saints were kicked out of homes in the middle of winter, including Abreu. You need to prepare against the perfect storm.
– There are bad people. If there are no consequences, people will do anything they want.
– Pay attention to circumstances around you. listen to the inner voice
– Many rape victims have the impression that some was wrong. Listen to that.
– Be aware with those around you.
– How to protect against bad people, be aware of situations around you
– There is safety in members
– First 24 hours:
Clean water, 1 gallon per day, one half for drinking and ½ gallon for sanitary purposes. Take care of your cleansing things in the works for you.
Personally six hours: food, sprouting, sanitation, better shelter, associate with groups and personnel that can share safety.
– First week:
Food, disease, sanitation, better shelter, community support
– First six months:
Food, sprouting, vitamins, counter such disease and sanitation issues.
– 72 hours:
Warmth, heat in a can, Flint to start a fire.
Change of clothing.
AM/FM radio and batteries
Water purifying tablets
Food
First aid and good multivitamins (good quality vitamins usually cost around $50)
Sanitation
Gloves winter clothes
Supplies such as: multipurpose tools, Leatherman knife and sharpener, compass
Week in its original container is the best way to store week. When you make it into flour, it loses its potency within the first 48 hours.

Here are some notes on a great panel at Life the Universe and Everything SF/F symposium. The topic is on Brainstorming.

– Sources of ideas in the fourth grade got stuck in the school system from that came a story where characters encountered in book: Lord Borden
– One author got ideas by playing role-playing games with his girlfriend.
– Do an object like a muddy boot and write a story about that boot.
– Another author got an idea for a book from using a spellchecker, which later became part of the title, the book.
– When plotting doesn’t accept is the first idea because that will be using what everyone else selects as well. Keep coming up with additional ideas. It’s the later ideas that have a better chance of being original.
– Go into other people’s dreams.
– Get ideas from people’s art paintings (. Melva )
– Sometimes brainstorming with someone else can help you have a more interesting story line because they make him him with an idea that you did not expect was a complete surprise.
– We society turns into astronauts. This is inspired by the author’s husband check in with the family that he visits. Try to get an idea of who has food supply. And a sister thought that he was spying on her.
– If you want to see if a certain action of a character will work in the scene role-play it.
– Right appeal about people you don’t agree with, and then write the scene from their perspective.
– 99% of people believe that they are good people. There’s a story of a mobster was surrounded by police and he was involved with the shoot out. He had killed the police officers in the past. Before he died he wrote a letter to his mother, saying that his soul was pure and that he would not hurt soul. So from his perspective, he was good man.

I attended an emergency fair and took notes on Things that can kill you first.

– Attitude: if you think you can or you think you can. You’re probably right.
– You need to have skills on how to do things such as fixing or can start building.
– You need to be in shape to do physical activity. Many people succumb to the normality. Bias. This is where people don’t recognize that there in a dire circumstance, and so don’t take steps to become safe. There’s one story of a plane having a problem takeoff, so it stops and people continue to sit in their chairs waiting be told what to do. One passenger opened the back door start again out and recognize he was not being followed. He went back and tries to tell people to follow him escape and they would survive. Then the plane exploded and was the only survivor. People used to be told what to do, just like a deer in the headlights.
– Plan, prepare and practice for what its look at situations. We need to recognize quickly you have an emergency determine in short-term or long-term life altering actions.
– One type of emergency is end-of-life as we may know with. But this is just altering our lives, not terminating our lives. There is an increasing likelihood that life altering events will be occurring. You experience the yo-yo effect, which means you’re on your own. There will be no help coming. One example. This is a distilled some people in Katrina that got in temporary housing and those people are still waiting for the government to help get into better living circumstances.
– Sometime in the United States future will experience an EMP that will fry out all electrical equipment.

Joseph Smith, more than you know:

I attended this lecture a few months ago. I did not agree with her analysis but she presents some interesting info. She is presenting the idea that Joseph and Hyrum were the two prophets mentioned that will die in the streets.

Any inaccuracies in spelling or my notes is my fault.

– Revelations 11: states that there are two prophets who will be killed and will rise and the third day. This presentation presents the idea that those two prophets were Joseph and Hyrum Smith.
– Joseph and Hiram were joint Presidents of the church.
– Isaiah 51:19 – 20
– 2 Nephi 8:19 – 20
– Revelations 11:3 idea power, the two witnesses.
– Comparison between Joseph and Christ is that both served 1260 days or 3/2 years.
– Joseph sent out on January 15, 1841 proclamation which was 1260 days prior to his death.
– Revelations 11:4 –. Check all of tree is symbol of people.
– The Temple of Solomon had two pillars.
– Is a statement that no man can come to God’s kingdom without Joseph and Hiram’s consent. DC 135:3, 6.
– What does the parables of the 10 virgins mean: the virgins represent members of the church. Matthew 25:4
– Always sleeping DC 45:26,3 Nephi 1:5 – 6. Joseph is the bridegroom.
– The Civil War happened because the Saints were kicked out of United States.
– Revelation 11:6 power to shut heavens power over the waters.
– In the book the living Messiah, talks about the 10 plagues of Moses that will also occur in the last day.
– Genesis 50:24 – 38 talking about Joseph Smith not Moses.
– Revelations 11:8.
– Revelation 11:9 three days later. Joseph and Hiram’s bodies were buried.
– Revelation 11:10 people celebrate the profits murder. People celebrate in Chicago.

Inginuity

Here is an additional way to remember the correct spelling. Ingenuity means to come up with an idea that genuine unique. It you’re drunk a lot of gin you’re most likely not very creativity so avoid the gin.
