These are notes from a talk at church. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

– The test of a good religion is one that you can joke about.
– Matt 27: all evet discourse. Signs of the times and the tribulations that would come. But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.
– To avid spiritual disease, apathy, apostasy, and the sunshine saint. We need to avoid three spiritual inspectors.
– Deception: Christ says to make sure man not deceive you. Warned of false of prophets. If there are false prophets, logic shows there are true prophets.
– Many of the church and outside doubt the authority of the prophet.
– Oaks: we know much more than you suppose. We travel to members. Every week we received reports from some of the most knowledgeable experts from around the world in all different fields. The brethren are informed about the world we live in. We are informed with the members of our saints in all aspects of their lives. We struggle to stay informed. We struggle e to stay close to our members.
– President oaks gave five things certain husbands should say to his wife
1. I love you
2. I’m sorry
3. Yes, dear
4. You look good in that
5. We cannot afford that.

– Have put a lot of info on the church on the internet.
– There was never if you lack wisdom let him google.
– We need to seek God for our truth. Spend time to study the scriptures.
– In the end, a testimony comes to revelations.
– Don’t allow the deceptions of the world and the adversary in all his forms to be the source of failure.

National independence party Apr meeting 2019

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes I took at the Apr. meeting of the independence party.

Prayer and Pledge. Pledge to the constitution abortion bills and funding:
638K abortions in the US. Several other states have provided pro-life bills.
What can we do?
A. Put a pro-life link on the page that will provide resources for pro-life.
B. letters to Congress each six mo. To local congress.
C. form alliance with other organization. Amazing how much help we can get when no one cares who gets the credit.
D. suggests and promote movie unplanned.
E. One member contributed several hundred to support organizations.
The United States/Mexico/Canada agreement.
Ucsma committee: piece mail steps toward the North American Union like the European Union.
Established several committees that have the power to alter and expand its powers. It grants this government.
Replace the npata trade agreement. US people rejected the agreement.
A step toward a world government.
Many people involved with the League of Nations are involved in the promotion of this project.
Huffington posts: half men and women during rose garden placing the new deal were the same service staff were the same people who help with the former law that Trump canceled. It’s the same agreement but with a new name.
Many of the current agreements are identical to the TTP bill Trump terminated.
Many believe in a world government because it would mean an end of war.
Put this letter under solutions under our website.

Article 5 and concern.
Have a 6 K list of all the states legislators. And 50 Facebook sites.
Convention of states now has 14 states have agreed to the convention. Sent a letter to the legislators to those states asking them to resend their decision.
Article 1 section 10 paragraph 3: no state shall not enter into any compact with another state without the approval of the Congress.
Send out to the remaining 36 states a letter that it would be an unconstitional act.
Against a balanced budget: against it because it raises taxes to raise taxes but does not give any ideas on balance a budget. National popular vote: has a way to change the constitution without offering an amendment to the constitution. They want to have the electors will vote for the popular vote even if the people voted for someone else. This would be a way to get around the electrical college. 190 electrical votes are agreeable to this action.
Article 1 section? /4? 10 paragraph 10> no compact without congressional approval.
Our goal is to have 8 more states resend their calls for a balanced amendment. We have had some success in this area.
Our goal is to have six resention and prevent additional states for voting for the convention.
Send a letter to the house judicatory committee to have resolutions to support the constitution.

Federal Reserve report:
The first meeting was in 1910. Big financial institutions reps were in attendance.

On falced amendment still working

US economy was so weak, the president?, had all gold land silver handed to Federal Reserve. They transferred it into exchange stabilization fund.
Because of the fed reserve altering the numbers to their advantage, it hinders Congress on a balanced budget.

Red flag legalization:
Judge Buckley senior judge for the court of appeals. At ideals summit. Former us senator of NY. Involved with international security affairs. Became president radio free Europe. Then appointed to the appeal bunch. He has served in all 3 branches of government in the last five decades. (Paraphrase:
“In my view, the serious problems we face these days is due to the abandonment of constitution.

Red flag gun confiscating: good news two states Indiana and Florida have passed pro-gun laws. Anyone can carry a gun and allows owners to bring their weapons into any church and building as long as church allows it.
It holds gun owners when blameless defending bad news: federal government setting up incentives program for gun confiscating guns. Lindsey gram is drafting a federal gun confiscation law.
Trump said to want 50 states to have gun confiscation.
Lindsey gram: the second amendment is important to me but it’s not a suicide pact. We’re trying to balance the right of a gun or mental image issues.
Utah had a flag introduced: did not make it out house rules committee. HJR7 (corry meloy). The resolution recognizes the best manner to protect the vulnerable is to enforce the laws already found in the UT code.

Agenda 21 report:
A lot of zoning adjustments are taking place in a lot of counties. There are large apartment’s housings. Elimination of single-family homes. Or: blocks zoning of single family homes.
Minnesota also involved in this type of zoning.

Agenda 21 includes the reduction of population. Aimed more at the US because the US is wealthy.
Envision UT: is a portion of Agenda 21 that includes mass transportation and population location. Promotes equality.
We want to provide suggestions and attend planning zone meetings to resist manipulation.
Isiah: woe to them that join house to house.

The goal of the party is not to complain but to provide solutions to the challenges that face us. We have a solutions category on the website. Feel free to send content to political of influence.
Seeking people who will put their contact info of local members so interested parties can contact their state representatives.
The website can provide sources of knowledge. May 25 10 am.
Pray for God to bless our nation.

Book cover suggestions

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes from a Reedsy’s web presentation about book covers. The cover critiques was done by Micaela Alcaino

– Less is more. Less chaotic you have the cover the more legible online and on a bookshelf. Avoid taking on too much.
– Don’t be too literal on your cover. It is geared to coax your audience.
– Fonts: 1. Serif font: cursive tails 2. Samsara straight line fonts.
– See what best sellers in the genre you are selling for are doing and what fonts are they using.
– Try to avoid drop shadows on titles. Keep the typeface clean.
– Creativemarkets.com is a good place to find fonts.
– For murder mystery: see what the market is doing.
– Don’t’ have the theme of one section of the book present one image to another section of the cover.
– Make title big so it can be read.
– Tip for self-designing authors. If you have color
– Chick flick/ woman’s fiction. Romantic comedy often has bright color covers with a softer typeface.
– Center the cover so it is not bottom setting
– YA is a bit of a colorful market for covers.
– Crime and thriller use a less variety of fonts.
– Historical markets: Maybe have a shout line to fewer words. If too small it discourages someone to read it. The shout line is used to encourage the reader to read it.
– Techno-thriller: fonts samferreff/block letters. Make titles the focal point and then add abstract images less focal point.
– YA fantasy: less is more here. Focus changing the name to book one of the series. Book number does not need to be on the cover. If you do use one, use it as a shout line. Fonts have more life and fun. fonts like marshal, autozan, or orphis font. Too much use of brown can make a cover less memorable.
– Mystery Thriller: set fonts to more crime associated. More condensed titles. Something bolder. Avoid woman running in the snow in red coat image. Blue covers, or start white covers.
– For YA, for fonts that are not as cartoonish. If you do illusions for a book set make sure they match in design.
– Nonfiction: prominent titled in books work better in the image. Try to have 4 maximum colors. Titles do well in telling what the books are about. Major title and major subtitle. A subtitle tells the audience what they’re going to get. Use your main tile to horn the audient and the subtitle as the hook to get people to buy
– Nonfiction: less is more. Let your subtitles read out a little better.
– Paranormal needs to have images to illustrate the universe. Make have the title be the same color and the author name is a different color. If you want a hint of a paranormal maybe have a darker background.
– Make sure the background does not confuse the book. Don’t underline titles. Make sure the background does not hide the cover.
– Children’s book: titles don’t need an outline. Try to integrate the title into the image rather than separate and must fade out the background so it doesn’t interfere with the title. Be careful to not have names too small.
– Nanotech: fora book series. Grading of shades for the back of the book dates a book. Bigger typefaces for this genera. Maybe have a different color for the different book covers to add distinctions between the books in a series.
– Science Fiction: be careful of having the cover to look too busy. If it’s a debut book don’t need to have your name as big but have the title big.
– Thriller/ techno thriller: too many type fonts maybe consider using fonts: traide gothing, gothem or knock out. Bigger, bold tiles are bigger for eBooks because they’re seen as thumbnails.
– Adult Thriller: maybe use the same typeface for title and author. Be careful of having the title too lost in the margin. Yellow works well. Green is not very good to pop.
– YA fantasy. Script and hand letters type is perfect for the genre. Make sure it is legible to make it not hard to read. Bolder colors also work well in these genera.
– Self-designer authors. If in Photoshop and get color picker open and do Command-Shit Y, it actually grays out all the colors that don’t print in sym Y K.

Candidates go to delegates to deliver fliers and promote the Republican candidates.
There is nothing like Utah. It is truly grassroots.

Caucus can be a chance for the citizens to discuss the issues. Our identity comes from our platform. People leaving membership.

Phil: promote the platform. Focus what we have in common. If we don’t ask we don’t get.
Sylvia: we value the worth of individuals. Seeing values in others starts by example.
Military: chairman is the figurehead. Create a mission and lead by example. Need to have safety in disagreement. Need trust. Make the party hip and cool to attract the younger voter.

Every dumb thing on my way to getting an agent

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes I took from a wonderful writing symposium called Life, the Universe and Everything. We have a lot of talented people in Utah and visitors with a great deal of knowledge. Any Misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

Questions to ask the agent.
– What kind of work do you do and who will represent your work the best.
– Critique books alpha and beta reads.
– A personal response is good.
– If an agent’s response that the book has a certain problem pay attention to fix that problem in the manuscript. Pay attention.
– A kind rejection, if they expressed that they liked it. And you do say you did a significant revision. You can ask them if they are willing to read it again.

Q: Once you have the perfect manuscript, how to select the right agent.
– What are your favorite books? Who represented those? Write the name of the author.
– What books are being promoted/ market hard and wrote those authors names.
– What books in the book store appeal to your attention?
– 4. Get query tracker> who reps whom. https://querytracker.net/
Some authors use submission grinder.
https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=submission%20grinder%20for%20writing&epa=SERP_TAB
– Second mistake. Send out 20 queries.
– Recommend smart persistent. Remain targeted. Don’t go down to level seventh agents until your level four agents have rejected.
– Some needed a year and a half to respond.
– EBook: from the work to the call I am not sure of the title.
– EBook: Call process made easy
– Save separate files that have files to send to agents such as synopsis, 1 – 3 chapter samples. Put have those samples in a folder for samples.
– Personalize the query what is their wish list, you can personalize your query.
– Some agents may skip if the letter is not personalizing.
– Be careful of putting the wrong name of the agent.

The wait:
– Don’t want a quick response > no.
– Set a goal for rejection
– Set reminders to follow up with agents.
– Forget> queries and let reminders tell you your next step and devote yourself to new material.

Pitch contests.
– A good pitch for two sentences.
– Write multiple versions of the pitch.
– Swap with friends they can see what they see as two sentence plot of your book.
– Face to face pitching> don’t rely on them to ask questions> know about them to ask questions for them.

Feedback and revisions from agents and editors or contests.
– Author mentor match. http://authormentormatch.com/
– Listen to your heart. You are the only person who understands the perfect version of your book looks like.
– Also, pay attention to your alpha readers.
– If someone says your book reminds me of > xx write that down as you may need that later when a publisher wants to have comparisons to your book.
– When emailing to agents reply to an email they already sent you and change the subject line, from a query or they will wait another year and a half to respond. Maybe put in a line about publisher interested in the book.
– If you get a call you have to straight up ask them, are you querying me?
– One to two weeks is a reasonable response.
Q: What to ask an agent:
– Google questions to ask an agent. Have the list on file in advance.
– Ask what did they like about our book.
– What kind of revision do you see me making? If ask kill the main character. If it is not what you envisioned. You need to know that up front.
– Who are some of the people they agent for?
– What are your typical response times to emails and phone calls?
– What are your emails of some of your current represented authors?
– Contact those people > they say what they like, give details of working with them and then.
– What happens if you don’t sell this book,
do you want to advance our careers.
– Ask for a sample contract to go over it.
– Good complicated words in the contract. Foreign rights, reprints,
– Ask how many publishers they plan to send to?
– Make sure they will represent all their work not just one item.
– Your agent gets paid when you get paid.
– Once have agent expect revisions.
– If they are dodging their emails and calls.
– What happens if this does not work out? What terms are you working?
– Henriksen.laura.m@gmail.com
– If some b list responds send a note to a follow-up query to your email letting them know you will give them an answer on a date about two weeks. Don’t sign up exclusively with an agent unless they want to represent you.
