Aid is offering help to someone.
Aide is the person offering that help.

An aide can be a hE or a shE. Thus, maybe the E can help me remember aidE is the pErson.

Firming up the Sagging Middle

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes from the LTUE conference. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

Q: What should the middle of the novel be?
– It should be like the two towers. Helping to get to know the characters and getting to care about them so that the ending really hits. It’s setting up all the events that lead to the ending. You need action. Raising the stakes is when you ratchet things up. It has a big payoff in the end.
– The middle should be pretty rocky. Characters face problems and overcome obstacles. The middle is where you make the character suffer. It is when you try to increase the reader’s connection with the work. Raise the states. Do something disruptive to the plot.
Q: What can cause a novel to bog down? What traits can be looked at?
– Don’t solve all the problems in the half of the book and introduce a whole new set of problems.
– Make sure your issues are complicated enough that they can’t be solved. Romance too often has a contrived misunderstanding. A panelist had to go back in the beginning to add dangerous elements that will help later.
– Travel blogs in fantasy have to cut down the travel. Reading flashbacks can be annoying. Those can sometimes pull the reader out of the story.
– See if there is anything that confuses the reader.
– When a character is driving down a road doesn’t need to describe the trees or what they are listening to on the radio.
Q: If the author is an outliner or a Pantzer how does that influence middle?
– The series has to be outlined. You need to focus on the plot.
– Panzer: doing an outline though the plot went different directions. It helps you set up goals and delivers relevant data at the right time. You can define goals for different chapters.
– I know the end before I write.
– One does not outline until the middle. Things will bubble up of what to do and can be woven into the overarching plot.
– When seeing something not feel right. Go back and maybe change direction earlier. Worked on a book the author was starting to get bored. I went to an earlier section of the book to build up the tensions.
– On sagging middle: ask if the characters are not working or the lot is not working.
– Writer block or I’m getting bored. Usually means something missing.
– Outside triggers to address sagging middle:
– Altering the situation by unexpected theme, unexpected character trait, building on something that twists the plot in a different direction. In the book Holes you read about the curse in the middle of the book, on page 100 of 200 pg. book.
– External tools: For time travel inspiration, she would go to old cemeteries and or go to antique stores to get inspired time travel stories.
– In star trek, the alien Q would do the unexpected and twist the story. Insert a Q into your story, what would he do to the characters in your story? Think about what would Q do to your characters and that will definitely give you more plot. If you are so crazed about the sagging of a book, it is ok to take a step back. Take a month off and go back and start reading a story where you are more detached from your emotions and you can see the story with fresh eyes.
– A panelist did a study on self. I wanted to see how I could get my word count up. If the author walked 20 min it helped her word count goes up. Another panelist listens to soundtracks that spark ideas. He says a prayer to get help. Stop and clear your mind. Athletes will visualize what they will do before they play.
– Determine when you are most productive in your writing. Remove things that can divert your writing.
– One author gets up at 4 am to write before going to work. In the evening she is just tired.
– Ernest Hemingway: when you’re doing right, stops before you’re done (maybe at the start of a sentence), that way you know what you will write next. It can be bridged to jump-start you.
– Head’s up. an iPad on smartphones can be moved notes you make into an email and after that a document.
– Good examples of strong middles: two towers movie. Then you spend time with the characters.
– Holes is a strong plot
– 112263 by Steven king: Good examples of threads are woven together.
– king fountain series by Jeff wheeler.
Q: How different between sagging middle in a series?
– The middle has to be its own story. We need to have a subplot solved in the middle. Some of the items need to be addressed and need to be self-contained.
– Harry potter the world gets bigger and more dangerous in each book. And there is a bad guy in each book.
– If a book is not progressing in any meaningful way that is a sign of a sagging middle.
Q: What is writers’ block. How to determine when a plot or a character went wrong?
– Ask if the character would do a certain response at this point in the story.
– Some do book hooks at chapter ending.
– Physical danger
– Introduce a new character at the end of chapter
– Bad failure or bad news
– Opportunity to something
– Plot twist reveal
– Invitation letter or message
– Romantic kiss or gesture
– What’s behind the door?
– Jump and cheer moment
– An impossible or important decision
– Foreshadow of the future
– A sense of awe
– A character’s death
– Blow something up literally, or a relationships
– Your instincts have some idea when your story went off the rail. Your characters will fight you if you try to do something they are not ready to do.
– Yohantwist.com presenter’s website
– Book buddies called COMP (books that match yours) can help you remember the beat of your own writing.
Last advice:
– Remember that subplots are your friends
– If you can make it toe to end the second draft is the perfect chance fix
– Focuses on a subplot that might add more impact to your middle.

25+ Baking Soda Hacks You Need To Know Part 2

source: https://www.articleskill.com/worldwide/baking-ta?utm_medium=taboola&utm_source=taboola&utm_campaign=ta-ak-baking-15-des-us-safe-msn-26129&utm_term=theblaze-newsletter

– The following are notes from the source.

– Heartburn: Acid reflux, also known as heartburn, can be a truly uncomfortable experience. It can be caused by many different things, from overeating to stress and even eating certain types of fruits. Well, we have a trick to help you combat it. Since baking soda is an acid stabilizer, just drink a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda.
– Cancer Treatments: You’ve probably heard about chemotherapy and know that it’s used for cancer treatments. Well, one way to help it work even better is with baking soda. Baking soda has the ability to make the environment for a tumor less acidic, in turn helping strengthen the chemotherapy treatments.
– Fluffy Omelet: If you aren’t really a fan of eating eggs, you might not think of them as a good way to maintain your energy for the day. However, adding half a teaspoon of baking soda to every three eggs you cook will make the omelet taste lighter and fluffier. The reason for this is that the baking soda produces bubbles of carbon dioxide in the eggs, giving them that fluffy taste.
– Cleaning Drains: No matter which room in the house you’re dealing with, clogged drains can seriously ruin your day. To fix this problem, use vinegar, baking soda, and boiling water. Mix the three together and pour down the drain. Within 10 minutes, the drain will be cleared.
– Garbage Disposal Odors: When something that smells bad gets thrown into the garbage disposal, baking soda can save the day. Run hot water down the drain for a minute, pour a quarter of a cup of baking soda into the drain, and turn the disposal on for a few seconds. Then, wait 10 minutes and then pour one cup of vinegar down the drain. You should see bubbles, which means you can rinse it again with hot water. This will get rid of that bad smell.
– Whiten Your Teeth: We all love drinking some coffee or tea, but drinking these things too often will stain your teeth. If you don’t want to give up these delicious drinks but aren’t interested in spending a lot of money on professional teeth whitening, then we have a solution for you. Put a quarter teaspoon of baking soda onto your toothbrush mixed with water and brush away.
– Sore Throat: If you’re one who gets a sore throat often during the winter or even strep throat, this hack is for you. Taking too many antibiotics can start harming your body after a while. To help ease the symptoms, try gargling a mix of warm water and baking soda.
– Whiten Yellow Nails: Some people tend to leave their nail polish for too long, which can eventually turn them a yellow shade. To get rid of these stains, mix baking soda and a small amount of peroxide. Scrub the mixture onto your nails and soon they’ll look as good as new!
– Lighten Dark Underarms: One annoying thing that some people have to struggle with is having dark underarms, which can make them uncomfortable wearing tank tops. Fortunately, there is an easy solution to this problem. Mix some baking soda with water in a bowl until you get a paste. Massage the area with the past for one minute and then leave it to sit for up to 30 minutes. You can repeat this process 2-3 times a week for best results.
– Chronic Kidney Disease; Over time, chronic kidney disease causes more and more severe consequences to the kidneys. What the kidneys do is remove excess water and blood from the body, so it’s very important to keep them healthy and functioning well. If you have this problem, try consuming some baking soda. You can take it as a supplement. It’s been suggested that it helps slow the disease’s progression.
– Kill Weeds: Finding a whole bunch of weeds all over the yard is truly an annoying this. Using harsh chemicals isn’t a good option both because of the high price and the unhealthy effects. What you can do is sprinkle some baking soda on the weeds. After a few days, you should be able to see a big improvement.
– Clean The Microwave: Grab a clean sponge and sprinkle it with some baking soda and warm water. Scrub the inside and outside of the microwave with it and wipe it off with a damp cloth. This should clean the microwave thoroughly, leaving it as good as new!
– Melt Ice On Driveway: If you live somewhere that has cold and icy winters, you must know the side effects of waking up with an ice-covered walkway or driveway. Well, if you find yourself out of road salt, try sprinkling some baking soda all over the ice. It might not be as strong as road salt, but it will help all the same.
– Cure Dandruff: Dandruff can be a real pain to get rid of. If you find that nothing is working, we have something new for you to try, and you probably guessed it by now. Try replacing your shampoo with a handful of baking soda in the shower for a week or two. You should notice a huge improvement in the way your scalp looks.
– Clean Your Hairbrush: After using it for some time, it’s normal for your hairbrush to start looking old and worn out. If you want to get it back to its old glory, soak it in a mixture of one teaspoon of baking soda and a small amount of warm water. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Just make sure it dried completely before using it again.
– Make Your Grill Sparkle: Everyone knows that on a summer night, a barbecue is an essential for dinner with friends or family. If you live somewhere you can’t grill during the winter months, your grill might need a little pick-me-up before you start using it again. Use some baking soda on a damp brush, scrub the grate, and then rinse it all off.

David Leavitt Town Hall minutes: He’s running for State Attorney General.

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes I’ve taken of a town hall by David Leavitt. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker. This is a submission to the caucus corner.

Legislate have taken away the citizen’s ability to accuse others of a crime. Accusations are sent to the county attorney.

Reduce the number of those crimes that don’t hurt people.

What does society need to so to protect against different crimes that occur?

He wants to save the focus on crimes. Will people be better after being involved with the justice system or worse?

Want to improve the Utah judicial system. 26 county attorneys need support from the state attorney general. He has tried to establish contact with Sean Reyes the current state attorney. He has not responded.

If the police monitored all drivers on I-15, they would likely find over 90% of people driving over a mile over the speed limit. They have to determine those who are the most threat.

-a husband who owes 10K of child support is a 3rd-degree penalty. One story of a mother has to work at night to support three kids. He tried to work with other sections of the judicial system. he wanted to get fathers who don’t pay their children’s support. I didn’t get much cooperation.

Don’t have a problem with getting more legal help for inmates in jail.

He supports a statewide defense system (appointed by Supreme Court or Goerner). It would then be confirmed by the senate. Public defense is set at the state level.

Q: the pandemic has affected “early release” from incarceration, and there was a report of a repeat offender who was released committing a pretty terrifying offense(s) just after release; I don’t have a law background but wonder what your thoughts are in the light of “keeping the public safe” having terms adjusted due to “health risks” in the public?

Report I referred to: https://www.ksl.com/article/46733772/parolee-released-early-due-to-covid-19-breaks-into-house-threatens-woman-with-knife-police-say

A: If someone is not dangerous to open to them get an early release if they can support their family. If criminals are a threat to society than no early release is permitted. He instructed staff if any criminals have any hint of violence we are against their release. Spend $15 million a year holding criminals. 80 are non-violent. We need to find the balance by not terrorizing people. Need to decide on a person to person basis. We don’t have the resources for more and more people. The US has the highest rate of imprisoning people in the world.

Q: I have not heard from, or read any support from the law enforcement community for your disbanding the Special Victims Unit in the County. Do you think that perhaps it wasn’t the best idea in retrospect?

A: Sexual abuse of children can be considered worse than murder. Such abuse influences generations. Utah County had special victims of six members. Because of the emotional stress on the staff, members rotated about 2-3 years.
Past members of the staff are still involved in counseling due to what they had to experience. Special victims would work independently from the other departments. They worked in separate rules. As the county attorney, he found out that about 300 accounts were unscreened. They were not being prosecuted. Changed has things were handled. They disbanded the unit so that they have to work under the same rules.
He updated from 6 to 9 who are trained with special victims. He had those 9 training the fellow lawyers in their department. Both the attorney general and special victims care about the victims of sexual abuse. Many special victim staff had special status removed. He made changes to address the 300 cases that were not looked at. And it will preserve the emotional state of the staff who handled rape victims. Changed how the prosecutors handle special cases. The new procedures have not changed on how the victims are handled.

Q: You have added is it 15 more prosecutors to your office? Why have you done that? What is its purpose?

A: The US bar systems recommend that prosecutors not have more than 100. Utah county prosecutors had about 275 cases in the year. David sent his concerns to Utah county account to address the overwork.
County increased 25% of the budget to get more prosecutors. Before David became the country attorney a case would come in. One lawyer would determine how a case would be prosecuted. The layer would determine how crime would be done. Will take 7 of the most experienced lawyers. One lawyer will present a case to the other six and vote on how that crime should be addressed. It will be voted on how crime will be addressed.

Q: A small group is suing the county and a private company over not following a conditional use permit CUP. The legal system seems to be flawed and slow. It seems more like a game where the lawyers get rich and there is no justice. What can be done to speed up the flawed system and games that are played by lawyers?

A: We need to understand more about our obligation to society. We at citizens need to care about our obligations to society rather than our rights to society. We need to regulate ourselves.

Q: What is the status of the program for volunteers. Citizens would provide a support system for criminals. People would adapt and mentor non-violent offenders?

If he stays as the country attorney will move that effort forward. As state attorney general will try to implement it at the state level. There are 83 probation officers in an effort to involved citizens in a mentoring program. 83 said they need to involve lawyers. They are worried about potential negative events related to the program. They are worried about change.

Q: In her job misuse of funds of a 501C business. Saw more misuse of funds. Put a hold on the Velma account. Address the board of misuse of funds. Sent articles to members of the board of the possible consequences of white collar crime. The board did not want the president to resign even after some misuse of funds? The board asked the person to share the finance misconduct to resign.

A: David will forward the questionnaires’ email to prosecutors to the dept. that handles white color crime. Demand restitution.

Q: What new ideas at the state level that is not already discussed.

A: 67% of lands of Utah are owned by the federal government. From private citizens, the state collects $2.5 billion property tax. Federal lands pay pilt (payment in lew of cash) at much lower amounts.
I want to take on the Federal government and strengthen our state’s power. pilt (“PILT payments help local governments carry out such vital services as firefighting and police protection, construction of public schools and roads, and search-and-rescue operations. The payments are made annually for tax-exempt Federal lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (all bureaus of the Department of the Interior [DOI]), and the U.S. Forest Service)

David is facing a candidate who is running for his third term. He has special interest groups to support him. Levitt is running a grass-roots campaign compared to his competitors’ funding. we are in a crisis in Utah in regards to our criminal justice system. We need to reduce our crime and find different solutions for punishment. if you can feel the urgency on this issue then he asks for your support. I need your support at the state convention. Please like or share my social media information.

John Curtis Town Hall. He is Utah’s current state representative.

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

Dr. Andy Unprecedented moment in history impacted financially or physically.
Employing all our knowledge of pandemics to address.

Q: bill won’t be used to take away our liberties?
Local government is controlling recommendations at a local level.
Dr. says this is the worse we’ve ever experienced. No one is immune.
Rumer that US will exceed the capability of our medial system> no answer

Q: if the immune system to be boosted, it would help you lessen the impact of the virus and reduce the need for the hospital beds. Never heard of victim D may lessen the severity. Having people stay indoors and being out of the sun seems counter.

Q: Did President Trump know weeks in an advance prior to the nation. John proposed a bill to sanction political leaders who withhold info on pandemics.
Dr. Andy: It is hard to respond when we don’t know how big of an issue it will be.

Q: Is there an idea that this Coronavirus will become part of our normal lives? If we don’t address these issues in a timely manner and keep the first wave down we can create an effective vaccine. Just like we worry about the flue each year so we will worry about the Coronavirus.

Q: Status of parts of the country that are not impacted can get back to work versus the areas of countries that are not as impacted. NY has several weeks to go before they reach their peak. There will be other New York City that will occur especially in high dentistry cities. Different responses can influence the spread.
Dr. Andy: need to stop mass gathering such as movies, church, sports. We were early in preventive action. There are new hot spots such as Chicago, Atlanta, etc.

Q: different between this and Zarrs. Why responding differently.
Dr. Andy. Zarrs was more lethal but it did not spread as effectively. Coronavirus spread much more abundantly.80% of people have mild traits and spread it. You can have it for two days before you can feel the effects.

Q: when we can have a system when those are tested to not have the virus can get back to work. The response weights very heavily on local government. Finances influence politicians’ decisions.
Dr. Andy: if you don’t have the virus that means you don’t have it today. We need to keep it down enough to have the necessary ventilators and medial support. If we return to work prematurely it can make it worse in the long term.

Q: What is doing to increate ventilators and medical resources? Mondays is dedicated to medial needs. Part of the bill to increase the national reserve of masks and ventilators. And get them to the locations that need them the most. Most important thing is to reduce the spread.
Dr. Any There are attempts to build them more quickly. Utah does have a well-integrated healthcare system.

Q: 2+ trillion bill, who is going to pay for that? John will challenge his colleagues to address the physical impact of this. Have a hard time convincing my colleges to understand a balanced budget and a rainy day fund. The most critical things we jeopardize our chance to respond when in excessive debt.

Q: In the past of stimulus plans they have not been of much use. Create a plan to give money to those in need. The package was created by the Senate and not by the house. Only get a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Been in a discussion of how to get the bill to match Utah values. At the federal level, it is one size fits all.
Q: for dr. Andy: infection can cause permanent damage to the lungs by 30%? We don’t know. Some of those who were effected still experience a shortness of breath. Others have been fully recovered.

Q: conflicting info if the virus does not affect children as much. if you are 75+ and hospitalized there id 50% survival rate.
Dr. Andy virus affects kits but they are not as likely to get severely ill. Kids get infect and transmit the virus. They are not very good at washing their hands.

Rep C: if people had the virus, is there a way to know that they had it previously?
Dr. Andy: Antibodies get created to fight the virus and that can be one-way one may know who had it. Plan to take blood tests that can help monitor who was infected.

Rep C: with what we know and learn now, how will it affect reinfection that may occur in the fall? A high population needs to be immune to prevent its spread.

Dr. Andy to Rep C: What will it take to be better prepared for such events as the Coronavirus.
Rep c: takes a crisis like this to prompt to change. Bill has a section to stockpile extra equipment. Congress needs to lean on the medical community to get advice on how we can better respond.

Endnote: Melva asked: What fluff have you found in the bill such as Poloci’s funding of planned parenthood? Will the bill address turn off income tax or put mortgages on hold? My call didn’t make it to be answered. Promised that staff would respond, never got a response.

Greg Hughes town hall. He is a candidate for UT governor

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes from a virtual town hall. He is running for governor. This is a submission to my caucus corner updates.

– Started town halls since January.
– Served in the legislator for eight terms. 4 yrs. as majorly whip in house leadership. I spent the last four years as the speaker to the house.
– The Utah legislator 33 days to pass or kill bills and to update the budget.
– My goal of this meeting is my positons. Show you what I’ve done my actions match my words.
– States’ response to virus? How do we resume lift after a virus? We have a virus we don’t have immunities against it. It is highly contagious. Without a vaccine, limit or exposure to strangers. When the virus is over there will be economic consequences. Health and economic consequences are related. When the government shuts down business people may not have the means to sustain themselves without incoming money. We are all in this together.
– We are holding for 15 days to limit contact to stop the spread of this virus. The hand that closes our business needs to be the same hand to fulfill economic value. There could be social unrest
– My mom was a single mom, she had to choose between paying the rent or buying food.
– Q: why vote for you? Track record of doing difficult things. Stopped Obama expansion, fought against the media. I am the only candidate that did not seek signature and bypass the caucus system.
– Q: The education system has an agenda like social justice and political agenda. How make education not so slanted. So many frustrated parents and grandparents kids coming home talking about politicians, environment, and social justice as well as anti-American or other agenda that are outside of the school curriculum, environment. > I have zero tolerance for teaches giving personal opinions.
– Q: bull in a china closest: to be loved, you don’t do anything to make people mad. You can be elected to the speaker in the house. As a conservative, you can find common ground on political issues. The public needs an honest dialog. A lot of things have been accomplished when I’ve been involved.
– Q: Why move the prison location. Governor Huntsman gave a press conference 700 acers about the property could be a source of a lot of economic value. Since many criminals serve their time they come out and we need to prepare them through educations etc. the new revenue would pay for a new prison in five years. Tax of business can help with the new location. Challenges of new prison near work force and near the courts and health care facilities. West of the airport> did not have plans to develop the land an not overburden or tax a city.
– Q: constitutional carry (gun): voted for constitutional carry. The governor vetoed it. Legislator did not have 2/3 majority to bypass the governor law.
– Q” Red flag law, what is missing is any due process to determine if someone is mentally unstable. They take the guns always first and then check to see if you are stable.
– Q: how do you learn when facing a new situation that has complex issues? Need to be a sponge for info. Working with different departments in the state and industry directors and get their knowledge and experience. Need to know the circumstances about Italy and the overburden of their medical system. As we digest the knowledge we need to ensure we don’t overtax our health system. Past experience of address public policy issues can aid me in the current situation.
– Feelings about the impeachment trial of trump? Any decisions to exercise constitutional authority and needs to have the full vote of the body to begin the process. As a state, we would not exclude a minority party (republicans) in the trial.

John Huntsman Town Hall, He is a candidate for UT governor

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

Here are some notes of a town hall meeting with John Huntsman. He is running for governor. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker. This is a submission of caucus corner.

– Americans have always been their best during times of challenge.
– business step up during challenges. In WW1 the Ford company helped create the iron lung. WW2 Ford built war equipment.
– We will get through these challenges. Businesses will have to look at layoffs.
– There is a sense of hopelessness.
– Q: Why I became a candidate. I will provide an above-bored campaign. When I reference other candidates I only give compliments.
– Q: I’ve already been a governor, why again? I’ve been raised to serve. So, I accepted the positions of the Russian ambassador and also china ambassador.
– We have citizens who want to give back and to serve. It does matter to stand and do all you can at this most important time.
– Q: He is a big believer of Federalism. With the challenges facing the Federal government, more decisions need to be made at the state level.
– A governor must look around the bend. We need to concentrate on posterity and stability.
– Q: He feels trump will win the Presidency. Trump and Hunter have a good relationship.
– Q: His feelings about the virus? We need to listen to health officials. On the business side I’m concerned we will experience a force 10 hurricane of economics. We need funding. We need to pay employees. If a bank gets a loan at $0 interest then they need to loan to business also at $0 interest.
– Q: First thing he’ll do as governor? Need an immediate economic plan. He did a flat tax when he was governor last time. He has a priority to concentrate on the mental health issues of the state. We are the buckle of the suicide belt. We need to coordinate an awareness group.
– Q: His feelings of Rod versus Wade? I’m pro-life. Adopted two kids.
– Q: How can the citizens of Utah know that you will not leave again if asked to fulfill another Federal position? We’ve done our federal service. He will remain a governor.
– Q: Why vote for you? I have experience
– Q: Biggest challenge in Utah? Mental health.
– Q: What is the biggest national issue: nuclear weapons? China and Russia have three ways of delivery. Worried that terrorists can steal nuclear technology and use it against others.
– Q: Opinion of sales tax? While governor he did tax reform. 100% of the legislator voted for it. The tax needs to be simplified to be reduced to a card with only a couple of questions. Want $ on income tax and also no tax on food. Shocked that an effort was made for tax on food this year. Q: State prospers with good tax code.
– Q: Remedy for growth, also concerns that city councils don’t listen to citizens? We can stop growth but we need to keep ahead of the wave. Decisions making should be made at the local level. We can’t build a fence preventing people from coming in. Over half of the growth is from our own children. We need to be in front of the growth placing economic opportunities in other areas of the states. We need to stay ahead of growth. We’ll have another milling in the next decade and after that our population will double.
– Q: His feeling about Education? Utah was the first state of leave ‘no child left behind. Don’t like
– Q: Federal control over schools. Also don’t’ like teachers teaching for the tests. One size does not fit all when it comes to education.
– Q: What is his feeling of LT Governor being over the elections of Utah when he is also a candidate? This is the responsibility of his job. Another person has become involved to ensure things are above board.

Hay sounds like the “Ney” from a horse and has more nutrition then straw.
Straw is hollow like a straw you might use to drink. It is very absorbent. It rhymes with saw which can be used in building a house.

Do you have a better idea to remember? If so, please share.

Jerry Pournells’s advice on writing.

I got access to some videos from Writers of the Future and these are notes from Jerry’s advice.
Writers need to write. They need to put their tail in the seat and fingers on the keyboard. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

– You need to finish what you write and send it to someone. You need to send it to someone who will pay you for it.
– Rewrite it when someone (who buys it) needs it.
– If it does not sell, write a new book.
– Write about subjects you know. don’t try to write about things you don’t know about.
– Don’t spend your time on old texts. Write a new story.
– If you finish what you write and send it out at some point you’ll learn to write.
– It takes about half to a million words to learn writing. That amount of writing teaches you to write. Until you get to that point you have a chance.
– Heinlein advised him if you’re going to choose grammar and style write regular high style grammar. Learn grammar and spelling. Follow all the rules. Only when you know the rules can you begin to experiment.
