Here are some notes of a town hall meeting with John Huntsman. He is running for governor. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker. This is a submission of caucus corner.

– Americans have always been their best during times of challenge.
– business step up during challenges. In WW1 the Ford company helped create the iron lung. WW2 Ford built war equipment.
– We will get through these challenges. Businesses will have to look at layoffs.
– There is a sense of hopelessness.
– Q: Why I became a candidate. I will provide an above-bored campaign. When I reference other candidates I only give compliments.
– Q: I’ve already been a governor, why again? I’ve been raised to serve. So, I accepted the positions of the Russian ambassador and also china ambassador.
– We have citizens who want to give back and to serve. It does matter to stand and do all you can at this most important time.
– Q: He is a big believer of Federalism. With the challenges facing the Federal government, more decisions need to be made at the state level.
– A governor must look around the bend. We need to concentrate on posterity and stability.
– Q: He feels trump will win the Presidency. Trump and Hunter have a good relationship.
– Q: His feelings about the virus? We need to listen to health officials. On the business side I’m concerned we will experience a force 10 hurricane of economics. We need funding. We need to pay employees. If a bank gets a loan at $0 interest then they need to loan to business also at $0 interest.
– Q: First thing he’ll do as governor? Need an immediate economic plan. He did a flat tax when he was governor last time. He has a priority to concentrate on the mental health issues of the state. We are the buckle of the suicide belt. We need to coordinate an awareness group.
– Q: His feelings of Rod versus Wade? I’m pro-life. Adopted two kids.
– Q: How can the citizens of Utah know that you will not leave again if asked to fulfill another Federal position? We’ve done our federal service. He will remain a governor.
– Q: Why vote for you? I have experience
– Q: Biggest challenge in Utah? Mental health.
– Q: What is the biggest national issue: nuclear weapons? China and Russia have three ways of delivery. Worried that terrorists can steal nuclear technology and use it against others.
– Q: Opinion of sales tax? While governor he did tax reform. 100% of the legislator voted for it. The tax needs to be simplified to be reduced to a card with only a couple of questions. Want $ on income tax and also no tax on food. Shocked that an effort was made for tax on food this year. Q: State prospers with good tax code.
– Q: Remedy for growth, also concerns that city councils don’t listen to citizens? We can stop growth but we need to keep ahead of the wave. Decisions making should be made at the local level. We can’t build a fence preventing people from coming in. Over half of the growth is from our own children. We need to be in front of the growth placing economic opportunities in other areas of the states. We need to stay ahead of growth. We’ll have another milling in the next decade and after that our population will double.
– Q: His feeling about Education? Utah was the first state of leave ‘no child left behind. Don’t like
– Q: Federal control over schools. Also don’t’ like teachers teaching for the tests. One size does not fit all when it comes to education.
– Q: What is his feeling of LT Governor being over the elections of Utah when he is also a candidate? This is the responsibility of his job. Another person has become involved to ensure things are above board.
