Q: if the immune system to be boosted, it would help you lessen the impact of the virus and reduce the need for the hospital beds. Never heard of victim D may lessen the severity. Having people stay indoors and being out of the sun seems counter.

Q: Did President Trump know weeks in an advance prior to the nation. John proposed a bill to sanction political leaders who withhold info on pandemics.
Dr. Andy: It is hard to respond when we don’t know how big of an issue it will be.

Q: Is there an idea that this Coronavirus will become part of our normal lives? If we don’t address these issues in a timely manner and keep the first wave down we can create an effective vaccine. Just like we worry about the flue each year so we will worry about the Coronavirus.

Q: Status of parts of the country that are not impacted can get back to work versus the areas of countries that are not as impacted. NY has several weeks to go before they reach their peak. There will be other New York City that will occur especially in high dentistry cities. Different responses can influence the spread.
Dr. Andy: need to stop mass gathering such as movies, church, sports. We were early in preventive action. There are new hot spots such as Chicago, Atlanta, etc.

Q: different between this and Zarrs. Why responding differently.
Dr. Andy. Zarrs was more lethal but it did not spread as effectively. Coronavirus spread much more abundantly.80% of people have mild traits and spread it. You can have it for two days before you can feel the effects.

Q: when we can have a system when those are tested to not have the virus can get back to work. The response weights very heavily on local government. Finances influence politicians’ decisions.
Dr. Andy: if you don’t have the virus that means you don’t have it today. We need to keep it down enough to have the necessary ventilators and medial support. If we return to work prematurely it can make it worse in the long term.

Q: What is doing to increate ventilators and medical resources? Mondays is dedicated to medial needs. Part of the bill to increase the national reserve of masks and ventilators. And get them to the locations that need them the most. Most important thing is to reduce the spread.
Dr. Any There are attempts to build them more quickly. Utah does have a well-integrated healthcare system.

Q: 2+ trillion bill, who is going to pay for that? John will challenge his colleagues to address the physical impact of this. Have a hard time convincing my colleges to understand a balanced budget and a rainy day fund. The most critical things we jeopardize our chance to respond when in excessive debt.

Q: In the past of stimulus plans they have not been of much use. Create a plan to give money to those in need. The package was created by the Senate and not by the house. Only get a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Been in a discussion of how to get the bill to match Utah values. At the federal level, it is one size fits all.
Q: for dr. Andy: infection can cause permanent damage to the lungs by 30%? We don’t know. Some of those who were effected still experience a shortness of breath. Others have been fully recovered.

Q: conflicting info if the virus does not affect children as much. if you are 75+ and hospitalized there id 50% survival rate.
Dr. Andy virus affects kits but they are not as likely to get severely ill. Kids get infect and transmit the virus. They are not very good at washing their hands.

Rep C: if people had the virus, is there a way to know that they had it previously?
Dr. Andy: Antibodies get created to fight the virus and that can be one-way one may know who had it. Plan to take blood tests that can help monitor who was infected.

Rep C: with what we know and learn now, how will it affect reinfection that may occur in the fall? A high population needs to be immune to prevent its spread.

Dr. Andy to Rep C: What will it take to be better prepared for such events as the Coronavirus.
Rep c: takes a crisis like this to prompt to change. Bill has a section to stockpile extra equipment. Congress needs to lean on the medical community to get advice on how we can better respond.
