Business end of using your book to promoting clients:

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on Business End of Using Your Book to Promoting Clients. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

The following formula is to find out how you can increase your business through referral. Those new referrals may come from reading your book.

Calculate your magic number:

  • Initial sales of your service (example = 500
  • Number of referrals from one client = 2
  • Referral income = 1000
  • Magic number = 2 500
  • Set the price of your book on the high side of average. Then as you give it away or give a discount the perceived value is higher.
  • For speaking engagement as an author don’t accept anything less than $2500
  • As you grow your business you can train others to share your knowledge as coaches of your business. The closer customers get to you the more they pay.
  • Sources of income can include new clients, book sells, speaking engagements, seminar tickets, coaching, and ads in the back of your book. The ads in the book will be from products that can complement yours but are not in competition with you.
  • This is not about just slapping a book together. Your book will change people’s lives. You can always edit a bad page but you can’t edit a blank page.
  • Get it down then get it right.
  • Know the voices in your head can discourage you from accomplishing goals. You have to interrupt the pattern of negativity that stopped you in the past. You need to train your brain with new positive self-talk words. It’s like a captain giving orders to the crew.
  • If you cannot move out of your comfort zone you will find ways to the stop moving forward and taking action.
  • Check out the movie the closer (listen to the opening scene and pay attention to the counsel there.
