There are three kinds of perfection:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I went to a presentation by a phycologist (I think) who talked about how trying to be perfectionism. The two presenters were Brother and Sister Olson. This is a continuation of my notes. Any mistakes on these notes are the fault of the note taker.

  • Professionalism: Tom’s from everyone trying to be flawless in their lives. They cannot make any mistake. One way to illustrate this is an Olympic swimmer might do fast enough to win the gold medal. But the day they won the medal they did not swim as fast as the day. Those we have feelings of failure. This type of perfectionism is not the type of perfection we should pursue.
  • If you are active in the Lord’s plan. That means we are being obedient to doing all the things that the Lord has asked of us. If we are doing the best of our ability, the Lord will exalt us through the atonement. It’s guaranteed. God is not a liar
  • It is the unrepentant sinner who will not go to the celestial kingdom. When we repent of our sins than the Lords atonement takes over. When you think you have to do everything perfectly by yourself. You are denying the purpose of the atonement.
  • Perfect in Christ: this is the perfection that is done on earth. We gain perfection through the atonement of Christ. Grace is the plan and mercy is Christ’s willingness to sacrifice him to fulfill the plan.
  • The priesthood has been delegated with authority to help us achieve perfection as we follow God’s covenants and obey his commandments. Examples of covenants might include baptism, the sacrament, temple ordinances etc. These are samples of us following God’s plan. As long as we’re following the plan we are perfect in Christ.
  • Exultation: is a third form of perfection that occurs after a physical life. This is where we can become celestial bodies
  • You can choose the way you feel by changing the way you think. When you have a moment of depression and discouragement, you need to talk to yourself and recognize the pattern that you are following. Then you make a conscious choice to control your internal language and take a different path by inserting positive thoughts and interpretations rather than negative. When you change the negative thoughts to positive your body will undergo a physical change with both positive thoughts
  • Mosiah 4:31 watch our thoughts
  • Alma 3:35 – 37 tells us to be humble and meek and withstand temptations
  • Moroni 10:23
  • We are dependent upon Christ so we need to turn to him.
  • Say to yourself: I am perfect in Christ. It is only through Christ that we are successful. We should always approach him with humility and gratitude. We need to participate in the ordinances that made us participants with Christ.
  • The Lord’s church is named the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints not the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day sinners. It is through Christ atonement that we can receive a gift of perfection

Spelling bamboozled:

Good: bamboozled

Bad:   bondozeled

My first problem with this word is, I mispronounce it. Here is a mnemonic that may help. When one is bamboozled over an incident, their expression might show a confused look on their face as if they were BAMed on the head with a BAMBOO stick. Then sound out the z and the word LED at the end.  This might help me with this in future.

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on the Speaking campaign. As you become an expert in a field, you can have the opportunity to gain additional income in fees to give speeches.

Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

  • The presenter whenever he wanted to make a point of the content you are sharing he would stand in the center of the room and lowered his voice. This would cause the audience to look up to hear what he had to say.
  • Get good in your communication skills. That means get trained. The toastmasters speech organization is a good way to accomplish this.
  • You need to create a demo video that shows various ways of how you’ve given speeches and have them videotaped. When you create your speech you want to have a specific topic that you are well informed and experienced in speaking about.
  • One pager: would be a one-page sheet that advertises what you talk about. Be good in giving a presentation about one topic then when you are good at that you can expand to other topics.
  1. In each speech identify the topics that will be covered. They need be well organized and structured.
  • If your goals don’t scare you, they are not big enough.
  1. Prepare you speaking content.
  2. You need to have a speaker website.
  3. Speaking fees: you can either speak for free or charge money. Either one you want to sell products. Have a demo video, This will contain your content as well as your personal stories.
  4. seminars income can come from the net price of the seminar after expenses, ads and coaching.

Preparing at home, work, and in your neighborhood:

The following notes are directly from the CERT book. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

Because personal safety is the first parity, as with hazardous materials, CERT members should treat possible terrorist incidents as a stop sign. CERTs are not equipped or trained to respond to terrorist incidences. Professional responders will need specialized equipment and personnel to respond to a terrorist incident.

In addition, it is important to remember that the terrorist incident scenes are also crime scene. CERT members should avoid taking any action that may disturb potential evidence.

Prepare for terrorist activity:

There are ways to prepare for terrorist incident. The CBRANE events covered in this unit are survivable and what you learn and do now may impact the quality of your survival. Many of the steps for preparing for a terrorist incident are the same as for natural hazards. Please review unit one: disaster preparedness on the importance of learning about community alerts and warnings, having household plans, and the seven supplies in multiple locations.

This unit will focus on some of the preparedness actions and protective measures that are particularly relevant for CBRNE events. These include: sheltering – in – place; understanding the concepts of time, distance, and shelving; and decontamination.

Shelter – in – place procedures:

Procedures for sheltering in place during a chemical or biological attack include:

  • Shut off the ventilation system and lacks all doors and windows to reduce airflow from the outside.
  • Go to your shelter in place a room where your precut plastic, Dante, radio and other supplies should be stored).
  • Use precut plastic sheeting to cover openings where Eric can enter the room including Doris, Windows, events or electrical outlets, and telephone outlets. When caught, the sheeting should stand several inches beyond the dimensions of the door open window to allow room to where Eric can come in, such as under doors or areas where pipes enter the home. Air can be blocked by placing towels or other soft objects in areas where the air could enter, then securing them with duct tape the sheeting to the walls and floor.
  • Tape the plastic sheeting around all doors and windows using duct tape to ensure a good seal.
  • Still with duct tape other areas where Eric can come in, such as under doors in areas where pipes enter the home. Eric Henry blocked by placing towels or other soft objects in areas where air could enter, then securing them with duct tape.
  • Listen to a battery – powered radio for the all clear. Chemicals used in attack will be carried on the wind and will dissipate over time. You will generally not need to stay in a sealed room for more than a few hours. Listen to emergency alert system broadcasts to know when it is safe to leave the safe room.
  • Practicing sealing in the room
  • Establish shelter – in – place procedures whenever you spend significant amounts of time at home, at work, at school
  • As a rule of thumb, 10 ft.² of floor space per person will provide sufficient air to prevent carbon dioxide buildup for up to five hours, assuming a normal breathing rate while resting.

Misunderstandings about perfection:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I went to a presentation by a physiologist (I think) who talked about how trying to be perfectionism contributes to depression. The two presenters were Brother and Sister Olson. Any mistakes on these notes are the fault of note taker. I did take the liberty to finish a thought or two.

This is good advice about the meaning behind perfectionism. If we can have a true understanding about the atonement of Christ we would realize that being obedient endeavoring to follow Christ helps us achieve perfection in Christ.

  • We need to understand that understanding the atonement can help us to contend against depression.
  • Missionaries and into the church feel guilty for not being perfect. Mothers feel guilty for not being the perfect parent and to getting upset at their children. Both parents get upset because they make mistakes. Each of us gets upset when we make mistakes.
  • Missionaries and members get depressed and discouraged when they don’t feel they are doing their best. Satan creates a false dialogue. In a missionary’s mindset, they may feel that they are not achieving everything perfectly; the Lord will not bless them. If the Lord will not bless them, the missionary may not feel the promptings of the spirit. Then the missionary may feel that I don’t have the Spirit I shouldn’t teach. If I shouldn’t teach, I shouldn’t be a missionary. This type of self-talk is the devil’s logic.
  • On the phrase, to be whole, the less interpretation for whole names to be finished or the Beagle blinked

Coping with our inner voice:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I listened to an enjoyable speech tonight at Toastmasters. The topic of the speech was about annoying roommates. In this case the annoying roommate that constantly talks and talks and talks is our inner voice. The inner voice is the one that constantly tells you their opinion with everything. Another name for this roommate is your self-talk or inner dialog.

  • Our conscious will just listen to the continual blather of the inner voice and does not respond
  • We need to recognize that we can have a control over that blather.
  • We can stop the negative thoughts by taken a moment to recognize them and then intentionally remove them. Acknowledgment of negative thoughts is like a child that tells amount I’ve got an hourly. In case point now the alley on her knee until the mother kisses it better. The daughter wants recognition one she gets acknowledgment of her past pain she’s going to continue her play.

News Jack:

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on the News Jack technique to gain exposure to you, your skills and your book. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

  1. Event: there’s an event in the news.
  2. When reporters write an article; the first paragraph touches upon facts and numbers. For the second and third paragraph they touch upon the emotional or social aspect of the event. In these two paragraphs reporters are looking for perspective from other sources.
  • Comment on the event from the perspective of the content of your book. You could become a source reporters come across.
  • Google alerts let you know what’s the hot topics are. Post your comments on your blog and on you tube video. Have the title in some way related to match with the event. In your blog you give your perspective. One author gave a comment that kids with high self-esteem do not get bullied.
  • If the reporter wants you to be on TV – you always want to have professional attire available ready by having clothes etc. so ready to go on TV in short notice.
  • I see the wisdom that when you do each entry the other tagline with your contact information and book information.
  1. com -this is a web address that reporters can get people to contribute content for their articles. If they use your material they may quote you an article. You might say as an author of the upcoming book ‘title’ I have traveled. And these are my recommendations for international travel. There was one good example that I heard in the lecture here was that someone will enter the airplane 10 minutes before it leaves. And as they are the last to enter they will see seats in the front first class and say with a smile is one of these seats available? Sometimes the stewardess will say yes and you get to sit in first class.
  2. Eventually the news event will plateau. But medial watches other media. Other media sources may also want to use you as an avenue of knowledge.
  3. If you are interviewed for a station you need to be willing to hold your ground on what you believe in. One time millionaire mindset author visit a radio show where the radio host kept calling him Mr. Millionaire in a derogatory tone. He also scoffed at the idea of authors making money. Jerry responded that many reporters (radio hosts hate being called a reporter) are usually broke so they don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to being a millionaire mindset. You need to be willing to push back on controversial subjects

CBRNE indicators

Here is a continuation of notes from my CERT training discussing terrorism and what we as CERT do about it or rather not do about it. The following notes are directly from the CERT book. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

While bombs and explosives have obvious immediate effects, biological and chemical attacks may not be as immediately noticeable. Indicators that biological or chemical attacks has occurred or is underway could include:

  • Vapor clouds or mists that are unusual for the area before the time a day. Although many biological and chemical agents cannot be seen with the neck and I, the substances in which they are suspended when dispersed may be visible for a period of time after an attack.
  • Unscheduled spraying or abandon spray devices. Several September 11, 2001, terrorist are known to have made inquiries for purchasing and learning to fly crop duster airplanes. Many other types of August cultural sprayers can be used to disperse biological and (more likely) chemical agents.
  • Materials or equipment that is unusual for the area. Dispersal devices, lab equipment, or quantities of hazardous materials that are not typically located in the area may indicate that terrorist attack is occurring was about to occur.
  • Unusual odors or tastes
  • Out of place and an unintended packages, boxes, or vehicles. Items out of place and unattended the signal a possible terrorist attack. This could include chemical or biological agents as well as explosives.
  • Packages that are leaking may be harmless, but they may also signal a terrorist incident. The terrorists for release sarin in in the Tokyo subway system (Aum Shinriko) merely poke holes in bags containing sarin, the left the area as the poison leaked out.

If you observe any of these indicators of terrorist incident you should:

  • Not touch it!
  • Move away from the object or area
  • Report it to authorities immediately

Remember: cellular phones and two-way radios create static electricity and may detonate explosive devices. CERT members should always report suspected explosive devices via landline.

Physical effects on people and animals may also indicate that a chemical or biological attack has occurred. These may include:

  • Numerous sick or dead animals, fish, or birds. Wildlife is more insensitive to chemical or biological agents that humans. The absence of wildlife or insects that are common for the area or animals, fish, or birds that obviously sick, dying or dead may indicate the presence of a biological or chemical attack.
  • Large numbers of persons seeking medical attention with similar symptoms that is not characteristic of the season. The symptoms of many biological agents mimic the flu and other common illnesses. An unusually large number of persons seeking medical attention for the flu in July could indicate that a biological attack has taken place.
  • Multiple victims who are exhibiting similar symptoms. Symptoms may range from difficulty breathing to skin necrosis to uncontrolled salivating, uncontrolled muscle twitching, convulsions or seizure activity. All of these symptoms indicate that a chemical attack may have taken place.
  • Multiple casualties without obvious signs of trauma may indicate a biological or chemical attack.
