Setting goals:

I attended a storytellers retreat called roots and wings and listen to a great visitation about setting goals. This presented by jewels Olson.

  • Success is when making and achieving goals
  • start each day with a positive self-song
  • stop being a people pleaser and follow your own goals and not someone else’s.
  • They percent of people write down their goals and as a result accomplish them
  • instead of being a dreamer be in action taker
  • Jewels wanted to buy a truck so she began a saving any loose change. She then moved over to every single dollar that was under five dollars. She finally put her goal on Facebook and invited her friends to help her keep an eye out if they see the truck she wants to buy. Each day should go to car dealership and drive one of the trucks she wanted. One day at the mall to lives in every truck that met her conditions and put a note on the truck saying that she’s innocent by the truck. Of all those cards one responded. She finally found the truck she wanted by a friend who had learned of her dream through Facebook.
  • Give specific goals avoid being vague. Smart goals
  • Specific: give exactly what you want to accomplish. Being a professional storyteller is not specific enough you need to type of a goal that is measurable he can check it off and be accountable.
  • It’s advisable to have unaccountable body. Someone that you can put money up that you could lose you don’t meet your goal is someone who encourage you.
  • Some people will write a check to wanted charity that they detest such as the Ku Klux Klan. If they break their goal they will send the check. But they hate the organization so much it guarantees it will not miss the goal.
  • Set a realistic goal. In Nice to be realistic. It also needs to have time boundaries.
  • US is a website that you can document your goal in a bubble and you also create the prerequisite bubbles that need to be met to make meat though major goal – bubble. Those additional bubbles represent subgoals. Each specific bubble must have a timeframe.
  • Many people will create a goal and then have a reward associates that goal. The level of reward is equal to the level of accomplishment.
  • You need to mine the gap, that is beware of the pitfalls that prevent you from a calm Junior go
  • You want to know which goes to shoot for your search or so and see what you are fine is important.
  • Once you create a bubble with the second bubbles tax jewels at 801 – 404 – 3914. And she will treat you to a jumper juice. That goal must have a time range a bubble map and be specific
  • make your goals a reality
  • here are some of the self-talk prayers that jewels will give to help accomplish a positive and successful day.

Here are Jewels’ morning quotes that I run through every morning, before I get out of bed:

How to get endorsements:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on How to get endorsements for your book. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

  • All you have to do is ask, you can write a testimonial for them that matches their accomplishments inside the testimonial. Tie that person’s accomplishment from their past or credits for the known for in the testimony that matches them.
  • If they asked for copy the text put ‘draft’ on the pages in the couple of chapters you email them.
  • Do not pay for testimonials
  • Copyright: you can take up to 300 words somebody else as long as you acknowledge the source of your information.
  • You get credibility in your book when you make references to other well-known people or books. If you want to borrow the content of an entire chapter of somebody you can make reference to the content that chapter in your own words and acknowledges that chapter
  • To get an ISBN for your site check out ISBN.org
  • Price for your book $2-$4 above normal. This way when is given as a gift and they see the price is get a perception of more worth. If you give a discount at a workshop seminar at a reduced price your audience has the perception of a good deal. Getting $20 on a 35 book is higher value than $10 for a $10 book.
  • QR stuff.com has a software where people can put their phone numbers into your database when they respond to your query or hit your QR code
  • Take advantage of QR codes. Many authors will put a QR code.
  • Many authors will put a QR code in the end of each chapter.
  • It may point to a short video that the author has done on that chapter. It might be a good source for additional information or worksheet.
  • Melva’s additional ideas for QR codes at each chapter would be
  • It can also be a way to register for a seminar.

CERT Chap 8 terrorism and CERT part G:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

The following notes are directly from the CERT book. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the note taker.

Protecting from radioactive all-out:

There are three factors that significantly affect safety after an incident that involves radiation, such as a dirty bomb or a nuclear device. They are distance, shielding, and time. A critical protective action in a radiological or nuclear event is to get inside as quickly as possible, staying inside, and stay tuned to local radio or television stations for further guidance.

  • Go deep inside (distance/shielding): is important to find adequate shelter quickly to avoid retroactive fallout resulting from the explosion. Get inside as soon as possible and go to the furthest interior room or to the basement. Flat roofs collect fallout particles so the top floor is not a good choice, nor is a floor adjacent to a neighboring flat roof. The more distance between you and the fallout particles, the better.
  • If you are outside when the event occurs do not look at the flash or fireball. It can blind you. Take cover behind anything that will offer protection, lie flat and cover your head. If the explosion is some distance away, it would take 30 seconds or more for the blast wave to get to you. Go inside the soon as you can. If you’re not able to get inside, maintain as great a distance as possible from the incident and shield yourself with any available resources: Earth, concrete, brick’s, books.
  • Stay inside (time): limiting the amount of time in the area of an incident is important to limit exposure to avoid retroactive fallout resulting from the explosion.
  • Stay inside unless threatened by fire, building collapse or medical necessity, or other immediate threats. Remain inside until you receive notification from the authorities that it is safe to leave the building. Be prepared to shelter inside for up to 2 to 3 days.
  • Stay tuned: radiation levels outside were gradually drop and authorities will tell you when it is safe to go outside, bearing in mind that the explosion will have caused significant damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Basic decontamination procedures:

The objective of decontamination is to remove harmful chemicals or particles of radioactive dirt or dust has come in contact with skin or close.

  • Leave the contaminated area immediately. Depending on the circumstances, go inside, go outside, or go upwind, until or upstream from the containment. Seek a distance of at least 1000 to 1500 feet.)
  • Take decontamination action. Seconds count! The goal is to limit the time that the agent is in contact with the skin.
  • Remove everything from the body, including jewelry. Cut off clothing that would normally be removed over the head to reduce the probability of inhaling or ingesting the agent. Put your clothes in a plastic bag.
  • Wash hands before using them to shower. If no showers are available improvise with water from faucets or bottled water.
  • Flush the entire body, including the eyes, under arms, and groin area, with copious amounts of cool water. Hot water opens the pores of the skin and can promote absorption of the containment. Using copious amounts of water is important because some chemicals react to small amounts of water.
  • If soap is immediately available, mix the soap with water for decontamination. Avoid scrubbing was so because scrubbing can read the chemical into the skin rather than remove it.
  • Wash hair was soap or shampoo or rinse water if soap is not available. Do not use conditioner as that combines radioactive materials to your hair and make it difficult to remove. If hosting someone else, pour water from a container avoid both physical contact with the person and with the runoff.

The water used for decontamination must be contained and covered or drain outside of the shelter area to avoid shelter contamination.

  • Blot dry using an absorbent cloth. Do not rub the skin. Put on clean clothes.
  • As soon as possible, emergency responders will set up mass decontamination For radiological events, stations for radiation monitoring and blood tests will also be set up to determine levels of exposure and what next steps to take to protect health
  • Food safety. Radioactive particles of food or water may be harmful if consumed. Food is tightly covered containers cans, bottles, plastic, and boxes will be safe to eat or drink if you dust or wipe off the containers. Be sure to worst fruit and vegetables appealed and carefully. Water is safe if it is in covered containers or the has s come from covered wells or from an Japanese and uncontaminated water systems.

Treating others:

Remember that the first parity for CERT is personal safety.

CERT members should take self – protective measures only. They should not attempt to treat the injuries of victims in the contaminated area.

As with professional responders CERT members may have difficulty dealing with the idea they should not try to help others, even partners, who are injured that may have been contaminated.

Remember that:

  1. you have a responsibility to yourself, two other CERT members, and to your families to operate safely.
  2. You are neither trained nor equipped to deal with contaminated victims.
  3. You cannot help someone if you become a victim. In fact, you may make matters considerably worse if you spread the contamination.

You must make the best decisions possible with the information that you have at hand. Even if an incident turns out not to be terrorist related, you have made the right decision if you have done the most good for the greatest number and not become a victim yourself.

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on publishing your book. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

  • Success does not come from the book but from the angle of the book.
  • You sell people what they want. Inside your book you give them what they need.
  • The title is the first thing they will see before the internal content or the picture of you.
  • In your title you need to tap into the left brain as well as the right brain.

Example (left brain): chicken soup for the soul (right brain) 101 stories of people etc.

The Millionaire Mindset: How Ordinary People Can Create Extraordinary Income.

  • The first part of the title needs to be about three words.
  • The second title can be longer and more explanatory. In this title you need to eliminate every unnecessary word.
  • Third title is starting to appear on the top rim of the book
  • Think of a title that will grab your audience.
  • Controversy is great for publicity but you need to have a personality to contend with media.
  • You can borrow popular titles and alter them for example women or from Earth men are from the moon alternate title -from Mars are. From Mars and women are from Venus. An alternative is who stole my cheese would be retitled who stole my magnet and you have different animals instead of mice.
  • Your can have a bold titles such as bloodsucking relationships
  • Covers need to be attention getters.
  • The type of cover needs to match the author.
  • You can incorporate humor. One physician for a book cover had the serious title but the picture on the book had a guy in a hospital gown with the back of the gown exposing his backside.

Another example of humor might be: Atkins is dead, past the bread.

  • When you write for specific gender or age the colors and content of your covers need to match that clientele.
  • Numbers in a title gives the perception that is a lot of data and content in the book. When you do numbers be aware that there are taboos in certain countries for certain numbers. In Asian countries the number four means death; so many apartments may not have a fourth floor for. They jump from the third floor to the fifth.

Sheltering in – place:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

The following notes are from a handout that I got from the CERT training program. Copyright CERT, I guess.

Although your first instinct may be to get away as for and as fast as possible from the hazardous materials at an accident, evacuation is not always the safest option.

  • Your home or workplace can be a safe haven during a hazardous materials emergency. Up – front be preparations or the key to your safety.
  • Shelter in – place simply mean staying put inside your home, workplace, or other building until the emergency passes and all clear signal is given. Local officials especially the fire department or best qualified to recommend protective actions against hazardous materials accidents. Sheltering in – place is the most often your safest option.
  • Hazardous materials are all around us at home, work, and school, in industrial and commercial buildings, and on the highways. When properly handled, they pose no help threat. When improperly transported, stored, or used, or when accidentally released, however, there is a potential for devastating damage.
  • During an accidental release of hazardous materials, air quality may be threatened. Evacuation may take you through a plume of toxic chemicals, leading to serious, long – term health risks or even death. Sheltering in – place can be a viable alternative which keeps you inside a protected environment.
  • Preparedness is the key to surviving any emergency, especially a hazardous materials accident. Toxic releases and, without warning and allow only minutes to respond.
  • Shelter in – place preparedness complement your other family emergency preparedness efforts.

Prepare your home before disaster strikes

  • Choose a room: the ideal room has few Windows, is large enough to house your whole family or code – workers comfortably, and preferably has access to water. A bathroom was adjourning bath, a large restroom, one employee break room may be good choices.
  • Prepare window coverings: when the room is used as a shelter, the Windows must be sealed against any outside air entering. Measure all window openings in the room, and then add a generous six inches on all sides of each window measurement. Don’t forget the skylights. Cut plastic sheeting according to the measurements. Label each sheet to show which window it covers. Start enough roles of duct tape to go around all windows completely.
  • Prepare event and door coverings: just as you did for the Windows, measure each air vent, door, and any other openings leading outside the room. Cut and label plastic sheeting for each opening. Storing multiple roles of tape allows more than one person to work at the time.
  • Assemble shelter in – place supplies: your supplies should be stored in the chosen shelter room. Put in plastic sheets, duct tape, and other recommend the supplies (see list on reverse) to gather into one container. And under – the – bad box works well, or use a container that files on the closet shelf or a cabinet.

Sheltering in – place supplies:

  • Cut and label plastic sheeting for each window, door, air vent, or other opening (see reverse for prepare a should instructions)
  • Multiple rolls of duct tape for saving plastic sheeting (allows more than one person to work at the same time)
  • Towel for under the door to seal against outside air. Battery – powered radio, flashlight, extra batteries, battery – powered or cellular phone if no phone in the room)
  • Snack foods, and uses or other drinks, pet foods.
  • Games and books to pass the time

Sheltering in – place procedures

  • Stay inside an enclosed building, such as your home or workplace. If possible bring your pets inside. Do not risk your safety for your pet.
  • Close and lock all the windows and doors to the outside. Close Jason shades over all windows. Put wet tales under the doors to keep the seal against outside air.
  • Turn off heating – air conditioning systems, and switch inlets or events to the closed position. Close all fireplace dampeners.
  • Use tape and pre-– cut and label plastic sheeting to seal around doors and windows, heating vents, skylights or any opening which could let air in (in shelter room only).
  • Seal bathroom exhaust fans or grills, range vents, dryer vents, or other openings in shelter room only) while sheltering in place, stay away from Windows.
  • If there is no phone in your designated shelter room, bring along a battery – operating or cellular phone. Listen to the emergency alert system radio messages and follow the message instructions. The primary alerting station with the Portland is KUFO (101.1 FM); KXL 750 am). I have done the one for Utah yet. Other local radio stations may also carry the news story.
  • Do not go outside attempt to drive unless you specifically told to do so. Evacuation procedures may vary by community.
  • Once the emergency has passed, ventilate the entire house to remove any residual which will hazardous fumes.

Shelter in place no nose:

  • Do not call the school or try to pick up the children. They will be safe for sheltering in place at school and they would be riding in your vehicle.
  • Do not leave your shelter until the all-clear signal is sounded.
  • Do not wish your saving for your pets. They can’t be found within a minute or two; you have to shelter in place without them.
  • Do not wait until disaster strikes to prepare. It’s never too early!
