Improving our ministry

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here are some notes from church. Any inaccuracies is the fault of the note taker.

  • Remember Satan has no control over us unless we let him.
  • When family and communities pray and watch over each other with God in our lives, Satan stays away.
  • Lock your doors and pray for protection.
  • Doing family history work leaves you with a good spirit.
  • Get better at scripture study.
  • Strengthening individuals and families. That includes helping others around us.
  • Family history can help us have the spirit.
  • Family history gives those beyond to veil a chance to enjoy eternal blessings.
  • Labor side by side with the Lord of the vineyard.
  • We can answer other’s prayers and offer comfort.
  • We are instruments in other people’s prayers.
  • It can do little acts. They don’t have to be big.
  • One lady felt down and depressed. Got a call from another lady asking to shop for her since she was sick and needed to be home for her kids. In the store, the first lady found out she was happy.
  • We can do prayers for those in our ward.
  • Be open to the promptings on how we can help other people.
  • A new, single mother (daughter of the ward member) was struggling and a friend called and said let me take your kids for the summer to lighten her daughter’s situation. The husband wasn’t any help.
  • We can pray for others. Took their names to the temple. One ward member prays for some of her customers.
  • Have to take it slowly to make a new friend and make a new member of the ward feel welcome.
  • In ministering, you have your assignments but are open and free to minister to others outside of who you are assigned. In the grocery store, someone may help with little kids. Help out wherever you can.
  • It doesn’t take grandiose acts. They don’t need to have cookies.

Mike Lee, August Town Hall conference

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes I took of Senator Lee’s latest town hall.

  • Prison reform: he and two other senators met with President Trump to discuss the bill. Dem. Dick Durbin and others are also working on reform. They hope to pass the bill later this year
  • Budget bill: Democrats and Republicans are both to blame. They passed the budget in the middle of the night. The bill was handed to Congress at 8:45 pm
  • How are you not sucked into the swamp? It does not appeal to me. I find freedom is important.
  • What do you think of the problem caused by the counsel for foreign relations? The problems are broader than just them. They have a mindset that the US needs to be the world policeman. They support involvement in the Yamen civil war.
  • Yamen civil war. Barny Sanders and I plus others presented a bill to discontinue participation in the Yamen civil war. The bill was narrowly defeated.
  • Status of Judge Kavanaugh? Does feel he will be confirmed before fall elections. It will pass 50-49 we’ll win and with maybe also have 3-4 Democrats join us.
  • Many of the President’s nomination have later been accused of unethical behavior. How to avoid voting for unethical people. I’m, not a rubber stamp, I study the people before I vote.
  • Why is cities and states leaders not arrested for supporting sanctuary cities and resisting law? The US dept. of justice has scarce resources. That means a priority of enforcement needs to be made. Also, trying to arrest a state governor could put some constitution laws be put in conflict.
  • Public Lands. 2/3 of Utah is owned by federal government. 1/3 of our nation is owned by the Federal government. That land can’t be taxed to pay for school. Federal ownership and control also hurts state with state economics and jobs. Want to do legation so that the state can manage and own their own land.
  • Gun reform: An AR 15 very similar to a hunting rifle. A machine gun purchase requires a special permit. When making a gun law we need to balance it so that the citizen can still keep the ability for a citizen to protect themselves and to discourage criminals.
  • Ethanol: the regulatory mandates are bad. Making ethanol makes food more expensive. The environment is negatively influenced by the subsidies.
  • First amendment; objected: it shall be unlawful to publish … blueprint or info about 3-d printers. I spoke before Congress to object. I object to the stopping of the first amendment. We need to protect the structure setting of the constitution to provide protection.

Spelling batteries

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Good: batteries

Bad:   badderies.

I keep wanting to spell this with Ds, because I slaughter the pronunciation. The measurement of power in a battery is a volt. The T in volt might remember me to spell the word with T.

Here is another idea. On a car battery, there are plus and minus symbols identify negative and positive. The letters of T can look more like a negative or positive symbol than the letter D.

God wants all his children to be watched over and cared for:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here are some notes from church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • Being the foundation stone of our daily life, Pure love is a requirement for every true disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Holland: the great commandment of all eternity is to love God. the first great truth is that God loves us with all his heart, might, and strength.
  • One has a closer understanding of Heavenly father’s love when we experience a love of our own children.
  • Set a goal each morning to share the love of Christ
  • Love is really spelled ‘time’.
  • The new ministering program invites people to be more attuned to the needs of our stewardship.
  • How does love influence our ability to forgive?
  1. We see their worth.
  2. With the blessings we have, God has a high expectation of us.
  3. Our ability to forgive can influence our humility.
  • Some will substitute their understanding by relating to an experience of your own that is similar.
  • For some levels of hate, it might take years and require the Lord’s help.
  • Ministry provides a chance to be friends with other by not seeing them as a number.
