Diabetes and heart disease

  • Heart disease: all ages can get it.
  • Diabetes: 25.8 under 65 have conditions 26.9% over 65
  • Diabetes 116 billion cost
  • By the year 2050 33% of populates will have Diabetes
  • 2 to 3 times spend on medical expenses > Diabetes
  • Diabetes: type 2 conditions in which sales becomes resistant to insulin. Extra sugar in our blood. Result in kidney failure, difficult circulation, and vision loss. Lack of feeling (nuropery. Affect the heart. Stroke.
  • 9 out of 10 conditions can be prevented by lifestyle.
  • Signs of Diabetes.
  • Weight, activity, abdominal rate.
  • Age ethnicity social economic status.
  • Symptoms: numbness, high blood pressure, thirsty or going to the bathroom, tired
  • Big weight change. Getting shaky, blurry vision, heal more slowly due to low circulation, more frequent infections.
  • Check in with dr. once a year for a checkup.
  • 25% are undiagnosed.
  • Prevent diabetes: less sugary foods, exercise, more whole grains, avoid trans fat and eliminate trans fats, saturated fats (animal meats and dairy) eat more vegetables and whole grains, fruit more moderate recommend to 1 piece or half cup per mill or 3 times a meal. Limit fast food intake and concentrated sugar and chips. Lack of physical activity/ exercise. Goal 150 a wk.
  • If exercise the body will stay in a higher metabolism is for 2 hrs. that follow.
  • If have prediabetes besides the above, focus on weight loss. Lose 7% of your starting weight to manage prediabetes. Stop smoking, dr. may recommend medicine. Check with dr at least once a yr.
  • Follow the guidelines and some people can control diabetes. Control sugar level, manage carbs. Meet with a dietitian. 45 grams to 60 grams carbs a meal.
  • 15 grams> is a slice of wonder bread. Or a half cup of a cooked serial. 1/3 cup noodles.
