I went to some training on Feb 1st up t the state-building. this is a presentation by one of the legislators. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker. This is a submission to caucus corner.

– Judiciary Committee: last yr. we discussed abortion, conversation theory came before the committee.
– This year there are bills on the protection of religious liberty.
– Bill: if a confession to a clergy member it will be a crime if clergy does not notify police it will be a crime. The sponsor thought the right of children is greater than the confessor. Natural laws and natural laws precede the constitution. Institutional issues then we have the law. Rep said it will tilt the balance. Proposed that religious leaders not be liable in volunteer and won’t be sued. She was upset and not accept the alternative plan. Later came back and democrat said it was a good suggestion. You need to give a good reason why an alternative might be better. It can be sometimes accepted between opposing forces.
– Creating a baseline where people can succeed is an appropriate form of government. The United States with roads and a good communication system help unite the states to be accepted early.
– Many classes are in the morning on the weekday. Legislators suggested that universities teach more classes during the day and include more night classes. Move 24$ use of the campus buildings to 35% use.
– One bill is a warning label to be on photographic content.
– Domestic abuse amendment; is someone not paying alimony or child support. If a spouse has to chase them their partner for payments, allows collection fees to be included with the alimony.
– Stratton: lone no vote repeal of the tax sb2001 (tax restructuring bill)
– As a legislator
– 1 must attend to the physical state of the house.
– 2 oversight of the branches
– Three things on the creation of policy.
– On constitutional defense counsel.
– He is also on the water conservations committee.
– On the federalism committee (limiting the 10th amendment) few state powers go to the nation.
– Fiscally: State has a triple-A rating. Great revenue. Record levels of revenue toward education. A general fund. We do have a structural challenge. Pyramid taxing: means tax a company multiple times. 1. tax raw material 2. Tax manufacturing product. 3. tax also on selling the end product.
– The state population is planned to jump from three million to six in the next 20 years.
– Protect our liberty, our freedom, and our children.
