Business stories: structure and Methods

These are notes I took from a wonderful writing symposium called Life, the Universe, and Everything. We have a lot of talented people in Utah and visitors with a great deal of knowledge. Any Misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

– Need to find a way to tell stories rather than death by powerpoint.

– Companies know they have as a story to tell but they don’t know how to tell it.
– Business people want to learn more about the craft of storytelling, but

– Let’s face it… Just what do business stories need?
A business story needs 3 things
– Needs to be interesting.
– Needs to be memorable they have a purpose. You need to help a business accomplish a purpose.
– A persuasive- story that ethos logous path in emotions logic and the life you live. You need to walk the talk by the life you live.
– 3 kinds of lines,
like dame likes or statistics, mark twain.

What we experience must make sense.
– We recognize our prior knowledge with new information. If you are not as clear as you need to be the customer will create the story for you. The same can relate to telling a story. If you are not clear on your story your audience will try to make their own interpretation.
