At one of the Timpanogos storytelling meetings, I listened to a great presentation about how to determine what kind of storytelling, you are. Then I saw a presentation on how to determine who is your audiences. I thought I would share my notes on what kind of storytelling, you are this week and fighting your audience next week.

Ashes of a series of questions as what you like, they often reflect the current storage like to tell. Here are a couple:
– what are your favorite three movies?
– What kind of stories you like to listen to?
– What kind of books do you like to read?
Find what is common between these lists. Do they share common plots, themes or topics.
People tell stories because they have some to say. Examples
– George Lucas: epic journey.
– Garrison Keillor (family home companion on radio PBS) small towns.
– Movies like animal house or Ghostbusters: the bazaar.
– Bill Lucas storyteller: wants to expand imagination. See the absurdity in things
– Bill Harley storyteller: children versus adults champion the little guy.
More questions:
– why do you want to tell a story?
– Why of the stories you tell necessary?
These stories may help you define why you want to do storytelling. When you know this. This is can help you determine where you need to concentrate your energies, improve networking contacts and also develop your marketing.
