Spelling interrogate

Good: interrogate

Bad:   interrigate

I need to remember the O. This may be silly but we’ll see if it works, you interrogate so the person will open their mouth and tell all. The o looks like an open mouth.

Writing fantastical fantasy

These are notes I swapped with another note taker at life the universe and everything. That way, we get notes from other panels we may not have attended. The panelists are: Brandon Mull, Jo Walton, Todd McCaffery, Jessica Day George, Charlie Holmberg

  • Start with either a setting or a character.
  • I say start with a character; it’s easier to know the main desire of the characters. Without that desire, the book will fall flat no matter which awesome elements you incorporate into it.
  • You tell stories in the holes made by your story. No, that’s not a grammatical error. Moiraine from the Wheel of Time tells amazing stories while living inside one.
  • You don’t have to have your entire world fleshed out, get enough done that helps you start your writing process. It’s fun and exciting when your characters discover new territories alongside the author.
  • You can find your stories in the cracks. Ask the what if’s.

Stress management Part D

These are notes from my weight management class. Any inaccuracies are the fault of the ntoe taker.

Tools to help with your stress:

Circle of control: worried about kids, politics, health, money, friends, coworkers, jobs, weather. > You can’t control

Circle of influence: (have some situations as a circle of control) family, spouses, neighbors, work

Circle of direct: Think what we believe and what we are going to do about it.

Path of meaning:

–           Evet: they behave

–           I observer

–           I conclude

–           I feel

–           I behave

It’s your belief that will define the outcome.

–           Many people will feel relief when a loved one dies because they are not in pain anymore.

–           Being mindfulness: based on Buddhist theory.

–           Being focused on your here now.

–           Whenever you worry you are no longer in the here and now.

–           Catch yourself when sorry> you are not worried about the now; you are worried about what will happen.

–           When an event is past you ask? I don’t know what I was so worried.

–           You need to plan where you are going.

–           Right now we are at our most powerful.

–           yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift; that is why we call it the present” Eleanor Roosevelt.

–           4% of the things we worry about happen 95% never does

–           Be optimistic!

–           Too much realism can be hazardous to your health.

–           Tell yourself a good story.

–           Don’t believe everything you think. Dialogs in your head are not accurate.

–           Start with what’s right so you have the energy to fix what’s wrong.

–           Some will keep positive comments in a file to reference if you’re down.

–           Optimism – be grateful

–           If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul. Rabbi Harold Kushner. Google him.

Being meek and lowly at heart

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

Here are some notes from church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • There are times when those who have not been meek and have suffered. Others who were blessed for their meekness.
  • Captain Moroni balled out a Nephi leader for not providing support to the army. The leader did not get defensive. He told Moroni the truth (civil unrest). When he communicated with Moroni he was not angry for the false charges. He firmly and meekly explained the real circumstances.
  • People hear about meekness and they think it is a weakness. Elder Beldor says it is courageous, not overbearing. Meekness acknowledges the positive abilities of others.
  • Christ had the power to avoid his suffering. He did not stop the process. Luke 22:42 let this cup pass but they will be done.
  • The Lord’s willing submission and self-restraint if an example.
  • Meekness is the willingness to listen to the Holy Ghost.
  • Meekness is the protection of pride.

Spelling mischief

Good: mischief

Bad:   michiff or mischif

When I think of a mischief I see the word chief. The character in native American coyote mythology is the coyote. Chief is a leader of native Americans, thus the comparison between misCHIEF and CHIEF.

Publicizing your novel: What works, what doesn’t

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

These are notes I swapped with another note taker at life the universe and everything. That way, we get notes from other panels we may not have attended. Panelists were Jenifer Jenkins, Angie Fennimore, Myke Cole.
– Craft is king, and if the book is great, it’s marketable anywhere any time.
– Get a nice, professional website. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive.
– Focus on a few author pages on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram.
– Marketing trends have negated the need for a blog, most of that has moved into the social media movement.
– We need to create a sense of intimacy with our readers and let them into our lives on a personal level (not too personal)
– Marketing and publicizing is great, but it should be ignored until you have a book that is finished and ready to be sold.
– Outside of a website and twitter, what is the next step to publicize your book?

–           Take care of yourself: diet, exercise, sleep. Teenagers need 9.5 hours of sleep. Suggest turning off social media for two hrs. before sleep.

–           Go somewhere nice and pay attention to the sensory details. Smell, touch, taste and what to touch and relax.

–           Talk about it

–           Some married couples will take turns on choosing what to do on a date. Married partner will plan it out and take their partner. Next week the husband chose what they want. Don’t do any problem fixing on your date.

Good: alliances

Bad:   alliences

Alliances can be a whole bunch of different people getting together. There are three different vowels here IAncE. But the two A’s establish an alliance with the two Es because they are of the same tribe or letter.
