Publicizing your novel: What works, what doesn’t

These are notes I swapped with another note taker at life the universe and everything. That way, we get notes from other panels we may not have attended. Panelists were Jenifer Jenkins, Angie Fennimore, Myke Cole.
– Craft is king, and if the book is great, it’s marketable anywhere any time.
– Get a nice, professional website. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive.
– Focus on a few author pages on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram.
– Marketing trends have negated the need for a blog, most of that has moved into the social media movement.
– We need to create a sense of intimacy with our readers and let them into our lives on a personal level (not too personal)
– Marketing and publicizing is great, but it should be ignored until you have a book that is finished and ready to be sold.
– Outside of a website and twitter, what is the next step to publicize your book?

Do you have something to add? If you do, please respond in the comment section of this blog. Thanks.
