Q: Define publicity from advertising

  • Cost and control. You pay for ad and you have control. Paid for ad to run. You control where it is run.
  • Publicity: does not cost you. It only takes your time exposure you get when you are interviewed by the press. Anytime your book gets your book in the press. Get that info from your press release. Get interviewed on a talk show. Big shows pay you. When you are interviewed by blogger or when you are on summits.
  • Publicity is more credibility. 10X over advertising. But you don’t control it.
  • There is no guarantees that your get publicity where you want.

Q” how is publicity help an author.

  • It can be a career booster, exposure and financial advantages.
  • When someone else calls you an expert, you get cordiality booster and better income.
  • You can justify higher fees. .
  • It builds your image.
  • Publicity adds to your author platform. And professional market likes an established author platform.

Q; three success to author success?

  • Blog about your topic. And share our blog posts share links in your newsletters. Blogs showcases your expertise. To find experts through google. Looking for blog posts that zero on 9 tips to do such and such. Find people who know the most about a topic. See who knows what they are talking about ae the media find you.
  • Help a reporter out haro. Free service that connects authors to media. Media send message I’m writing an article on ‘topic”. Its free. Three emails go out each day. Only to respond to a perfect fit.
  • A tip sheet is created to you as the author to distribute to the media. It is a press release with number or bullet format that offer advice on a certain topic. Has a headline, intro text. Tip sheet has a headline: 5 ways to keep your animal safe in bitter cold weather. You chose a headline that is a common need/ question and you  give them the solution. Pet expert say… or reference books says 5 tips.  Each tip is 2-3 sentences.

Q: how to do publicity or to raise their profile?

  • Avoiding overwhelm. Narrow your focus. What are the five media outlets are more important to your book success. It might be regional media. Maybe the biggest daily newspapers in your state. Study them. See how your book can fit into their content. You need to make your book a part of a bigger story. May be pitch a how to piece. Or relate to a topic in the news now. Start building relationships with those medial. Those are twitter, linked in and other medial .follow them and build a relationship. Share their content. Ask them questions. Become known to them. When you pitch I’ve been following you. I see that you do a lot of pieces on this ..

Q: Advice?

  • Authors try to push their book too much.
  • Think like a reporter. Imagine what they want.
  • Who can you connect the reports for additional help.

Q:  How write a book during a busy life?

  • Started it when it wasn’t so busy.
  • Started writing minutes a day. Screen already open. Followed timer.
  • Type in notes for the net day. Subconscious worked on it for the next session.
  • Finished book in 5 months. It is about making the time.
  • It can build a habit.
  • Use whatever software you’re comfortable with. If add a random thought> open google doc on phone to add the notes.

Q: what advice for professions who have a full time job to write a book?

  • Do a daily short spurt of 20 min. each morning, Did a brief exercise to wake up the body.
  • Don’t sacrifice your sleep.
  • Every day on Facebook, gave word count it was a way to hold himself accountable.
  • His audience help them narrow down the book..

Q: what book launce strategy.

  • Focused on affiliates.
  • Got on multiple interviews.
  • Put the book up in advance > and identified people who promoted books that are in your category. We identified 200 books that fit> bound you who interview authors, podcast, or wrote blogs.

Q: how worked with affiliates.

  • We would incentive for buy the book.
  • Asked buyers where they bought the book?
  • $16-$23 entry point of book. Go info a funnel to give other options.
  • If sections of your book are cut, that might became a course with a deadline to take advantage of.
  • Don’t make money on the books its what branches off that book. The backend is how you make money.
  • Share 50% on back end with affiliates.
  • Preorder bonuses is the way to earn and preorder sales is counted for the first week of the book in print.

  • Authors can be so sucked into research. 80% of book hid in head.   the book and then do the research. AT the end fo the research.
