Prophets

– These are notes from a church talk I attended. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

– At General Conference as a child did not hold my interest much in the contents except for new temples.
– On my mission learned the importance of the restoration of the gospel. We taught about Joseph Smith.
– At the beginning of the book of Mormon is: we invite all man to read.
– When she asked if the Book of Mormon was true she got a confirmation that it was.
– Talk: sustaining the prophets, talk by president monsoon. The talk gives detail about leadership training and responsivities.
– We do not vote for the prophets, we have the opportunity to sustain the prophet.
– We need to pray for the prophet, promise to support him.
– We sustain the prophets by studying their counsel.
– Dec 21:6 For by doing these things the agates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name’s glory.
– Nothing can stand against us when we stand with God.
– Conference is a great opportunity to hear the Lord’s voice through his prophets twice a year

– My two cents:
I am very glad that we not only do we have personal inspiration to direct our lives, but living prophets to expound on the gospel. It shows that my life is just as important as those in the Bible. It’s cool that Heavenly Father loves all his children throughout the world.
