Sermon of the mount:

I don’t recall if this was from a church talk or a fireside. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker. Here’s the link: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%205-7&version=KJV

– Mark twain: There are two types of speakers: those who are scared and those who are liars.
– Book: the 100, a ranking of history’s most influential persons of history. Christ is listed as third. List him because people don’t follow his teachings.
– Sermon on the Mount: we need a lasting commitment to the server of the mount.
– To say we are servants of God we would need to study the Sermon of the mount.
– Ezertaf Beson: Each of us would do well to periodically review the sermon of the munt.
– Why does this sermon stand out? It became a named semen when St. Augustine attached a title.
– This account is the longest of all of Christ’s sermons.
– Contest and settings. Matthew sets the stage that is the dispensations, line in the same between the old and new testaments.
– The savior symbolically ascended a mountain and delivers the new law and covenant to Israel. This new law is not about the worldly kingdom and pursues. It is about the kingdom of heaven.
– The sermon is the requirements of the kingdom of heaven.
– It discusses what we do for ourselves and for others.
– Christ emphasizes the importance of doing.
– There is not a single word in the mount of belief it is about what to do. Do is listed at least one time.
– As members of the restored church we know and have so much more we have than anyone else in the world. We have joseph smith translations and the sermon at the temple in the book of Mormon.
– 112 verses 4 verses are revised by his translations. 76 % has clarify verses.
– The Book of Mormon account adds additional doctrine. Some felt it was geared to prepare the saints to prepare for the temple.
– Both sermons refer to alters. Both versions admonish us to keep some things holy.
– All of our prayers and fasting should be done in secret.
– The entrance to the kingdom of heaven is through a narrow opening.
– Discuss obedience, sacrifice, and the law of the gospel. I.e.: Love, Chasity, etc.
– We learn what God would have us do to return to the kingdom of heaven.
– The sermon is covenants to live by.
– May we periodically6 review the teachings to be familiar with his way.

– Dietrich Von Hofer: human speakers it can interpret the sermon of mount a thousand ways. Christ has one way.
– Pray for them that despitefully use you. Do good and pray for those who are not easy to love. One person said this is a good description of motherhood.
– What is our desire? Lay not up yourself treasures on earth that moth corrupt
– Consider the place you invest time and money. Se the treasurers you are accumulating be transferrable to the next life.
– We do not live the sermon of the mount because it is easy. Most of what Christ asks us he wants to be done in secret. Do the most good in this life and no one knows about it.
– We are to be a salt of the earth.
– Go the second mile when it is one is uncomfortable and inconvenient.
– Turn the other cheek when it will not necessarily bring justice.
– Christ was a perfect example of these most profound sermons.
– Harodle bleed: Christ gave us an example of his own life.
– After the sermon Christ healed a leper and told him, tell no man.
– 39 miracles recorded in the gospel. How mammy do you think went unrecorded? How many happened that were not recorded. Most of us are oblivious to how much and how often Jesus gave and forgave and how he loves and blesses and does good and praise for us. Even when there are times when we are hard to love.
– We may look in lives and see with heaven’s hindsight how Christ has blessed us.
