– Discipleship is not about doing things perfectly but doing things intentionally.
– Our grip of the gospel must be intent not a casual hold of the gospel.
– Sometimes one can fear sharing the gospel or being a part of the gospel because of the potential of other’s ridicule.
– Lehi’s family left the comforts of their home for the sake of the gospel.
– Just like Lehi’s family, some family members were not excited about the gospel. Some kids today may feel the same. Modern families can relate to Lehi’s family.
– Thinking that we were one of those who chose to face life challenges from the preexistent may be a motivation to continue our positive path.
– Just like Bilbo left his comfort zone we will leave our comfort zone.
– Heavenly Father wants us to progress. We have the comfort that can help us. We need to get out of our comfort zones for the comforter to be of aide.
– Nephi said I went not knowing what to expect but he went with faith.
– Elder Urforf said:
– a. Incline our hearts toward God.
– One person reads the scriptures to get them in the spirit before making a decision.
– Pay attention to the spirit when making a decision. How does your heart feel?
– One can take a leap of faith and people can see blessings go their way.
– Another experienced they had worked on being out of debt except for a mortgage and had savings. They lost their job and were able to survive.
– b. help others in their journey.
– Others get blessings for serving others.
– People in primary and youth programs help to build a testimony for our church youth.
– One example of service is of a trash lady talked to a customer who was very pregnant and next week’s trash not on the street. Trash lady went and got the bin and emptied the trash and returned it.
– c. Share the gospel with others.
– One lady had a calling in temple preparation. She was teaching a mother with three rambunctious sons. She challenged the husband who was not interested in the gospel for them to go to the temple as a family. He accepted the challenge and the family eventually went to the temple.
– Challenge:
– 1. Be more prayerful
– 2. Seek the spirit
– 3. Seek ways to server others
– 4. Write down your experiences.
