Orem city is replacing 3 new city councilmen/women. I went to the meet candidates’ night and here are the notes I took. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker. This is a submission to my caucus corner occasional blog.

Mickey W. Cochran seminary teacher, love Orem, own business, taught at BYU, neighborhood planning, planning commission volunteer work. State street core project, planning has to be well planned, not accept any donations, earn a position because of my involvement, and will not be owned. I am Orem everyman. preserve neighborhoods.

Debby Lauret: tonight is being streamed. Been on the city council for the last 4 years, preserving Orem for my family 4 yrs. on counsel, strong neighborhood, preserve and protect state and clean family, developed low-density housing, future land for north union trail. Protect safety in school. Community gardens, work at tabathy pantry, advocate affordable housing, growth needs to be done in the right places. Strong public property. Strong police and fire force, lot more police. Career better options, a new fire station. Strong economic development. We are business-friendly. Spent decades as economic development worked on dobi project. Helped 200 businesses. Increasing rainy day funds. Stabilize our revenues, new playgrounds, and a new library.

Jeffrey K. Lambson: thanks to current counsel, first responders. Make their well-being a top priority, lived life in Orem. Care submission, 3 things bring joy god family and service. Granet publishing and. high-density housing, master plan emergency. No zoning

Sam Lentz: Not happy with the past council, utopia was a political landmine, incumbent, build-out plan all have access to utopia with no new taxes, proposed a property tax increase, hire new police officers. only voted for one apartment.

Martin Wright: Orem 19 yrs., here are issues that need to be addressed. We pay the lowest tax rate in the country. We need to take care of the community, not all can be given we need to earn it. Need to keep it family-friendly.

Tommy Williams: lived in Orem most of my life, tell me what needs to be done. See the frustration people feel they are not being heard, the decision is already made. Spending within our current budget. As a businessman must live in a budget, many officers feel they are being overburdened. As sales tax revenue > redirect funds to police and fire. Preserve our neighborhoods; make sure we are not overburdening our roads. Tommy wiliams@usa.com > no high-density apartments.

Spencer Rands family-friendly. Bad traffic through small neighborhoods. Tearing down neighborhoods. Not make a decision in advance

David Halliday: listen Dave Ramsey could not find any home for 25% salary of 700. A serious issue with affordable housing, father of Mitt Romney in charge of housing. We can ??? high density or we can have it work for us. Have responsible and responsible housing development. : civil engineering. Grow city responsibility. Pet peeve> don’t like how voting by rank choice. rank choice. Want candidates listed by most popular.

Terry D. Peterson: I hear you. Now clients can park in his business, leaving Orem not put high-density housing in neighborhoods. A concern with an increased water bill. Background graded from BYU in finance, understanding analyzing companies, don’t have any agenda, concern about the direction things are going. concerns high density.

David G. Przybyla: engineers arranged for a long road, worried about materials we are using for the longevity for Orem, avoid Center Street. Need to focus on traffic. Maximize tax dollars or not using them. Need some innovative solutions for Orem challenges. 1. Attract business to Orem. 2 improve congestions. 3. Physically responsive.

Nichelle Jensen: passion is into where I am and being a part of my community, unity is something very important to me. Value all members of the community. Other passions, making sore do the best what I’ve been given so best life possible. Decrease our carbon footprint. Favorite thing in Orem that we have liver within 15 min trail or grocery store. slow growth, have a business make improvements themselves
