Priesthood blessings

Here are some notes from the church meeting.

  • Nelson praised the priesthood brethren for their service, righteousness, and goodness. His concern: too many don’t understand the concept of priesthood power and authority.
  • Many leaders fail to bless people in their calling. The priesthood has the authority to bless the people.
  • Oaks: The priesthood is the privilege to bless people and others. Fathers who hold priesthood presides over the family with the priesthood. He can counsel the family, hold family meetings and give blessings. If fathers would be magnified the priesthood in their own family, it would further the mission of the church compared to anything else they would do. Live the commandments to have the power to use the priesthood. Priesthood holders should cultivate family relationships so families will seek priesthood blessing.
  • Harold B Lee: never is the power of the priesthood more own needed than when there is a crisis or decision that needs to be made in the home.
  • You have the power to perform miracles if the Lord wills it so.
  • What is the difference between prayer and a blessing. 2 Nephi 4 shows an example. Father Lehi blesses his children. Lehi leaves a blessing on Laymen and Lemuel that their cursing will be removed. Lord will be merciful to your seed. Verse 4:12: Lehi spoke to the household with feelings in his heart and the according to the spirit he feels.
