Addiction class 6: A change of heart

Here are my notes for this week’s addiction class. The topic is on a change of heart. Any inaccuracies in my notes are the fault of the note taker.

  • All of us are affected by addiction either our own or someone we know
  • Christ in one to help us may ask: where you let me take this?
  • When you manage the demons within it doesn’t matter what demons you face without. They no longer matter.
  • The Book Mormon refers to the anti-Lehi Nephi people who had an addiction to being bloodthirsty. To completely abandon their addiction they made a vow never to pursue war again. That promise to not include their children who became the 2000 sticks and soldiers.
  • Be willing to let the Savior convert your heart. This can be done by becoming fully involved with the gospel and its meetings.
  • The act of study and understanding of the gospel from the Scriptures and leaders of the church
  • Learn humility so that you rely upon the Lord and not your own devices.
  • Participate in the Fellowship the church where you associate with people that are working on improving themselves you are.
  • Believe in redemption you can do your part and Christ will do the rest.
  • You need to have patience realizing that overcoming addiction may take time and effort.
  • Depend on call upon the Savior for help. He is eager to help.
