Love Elements of Great Romance:

Quite a few months ago I attended a writing workshop called. I write. One of the presenters gave some wonderful ideas on how to write better romance. I thought I wrote down her name but I don’t see it seeing it. Here are some highlights of her suggestions.

Couple Meet and greet:

-watch out for cliché.

-Make it further in depth.

-Watch for unearned emotion without showing why characters feel that way. It may be something that happened earlier in their life.

-Try to find a unique beginning and one that is believable.

Boy meets girl: There are usually three scenarios.

  1. either instant attraction, Movie: the note book.
  2. Dislike at first sight Stephanie Meyer’s twilight pg. 23.
  3. A little bit of both: movie: you’ve got mail. He is in the book store and interest in one another, then Meg finds out he is the competition.

How guy shows his love:

Guy shows love by noticing things about the girl he likes, by giving her presents etc.

Romances:

-check for logical conclusions to your romance:

-Romance readers want a happy ending.

-The reader has reason to believe the couple will remain together and relationships will endure.

-Couple gets married. Brief tasteful emotionally powerful scene following.

Chemistry:

Physical attraction, create a situation where two characters want each other; whether or not they are willing to admit it.
