A riddle given during a job interview:

I had three job interviews this week and accepted a position with dialogue marketing. It was during the interview with Tomax up in Salt Lake, that I had a very interesting test question presented to me.

For anyone who can answer this question first, I give you any choice of any e-book of mine either Pocket Troubles middle grade fantasy, Operation Middle School Madness, middle grade mystery or I Know You Think Is a Toaster, Promoting Family Values through Object Lessons which is a self-help object lesson, nonfiction book.

Here’s a riddle:

There are two rooms.

In room one. There are three light switches.

In room two, there are three bulbs with each one connected to one of the light switches of room one.

You must find out which light bulb fits to which switch.

You are in room one and you can go into room two only once.

Tell me how you would find which light switch goes to which bulb? Remember that when a light bulb is turned on, it gives you two things.

First person to give me the answer, will get a free e-book given to yourself or anyone of your choosing.

My interviewer had to give me a hint before I finally got the answer. Some of you will probably find the answer to be quite obvious. If you do, don’t rub it in.

I heard this one on a podcast recently. The key is that the light bulbs are specified to be incandescent. So you turn on two of the switches and leave them on for a couple of minutes, then turn one off. Then go into room 2 and you know which is the one that is on still and of the other two, the one that is warm is the one that you left on for a few minutes and the one that is cold is the one you never turned on.
