I listened to a presentation at church about family history about how to make use of family search website.  Here are my notes.

  • Programmers are working on new ways to make family history fun.
  • Make sure that the information in your ward directory is accurate as family history uses your information to help find relevant relatives to your family.
  • There was a spot that you can document memories of individuals that are up on family history. This is also an excellent place that you can start recording key points of your life.
  • There is a section of family history that you can find which historical figures you are related to. This list ranges from the Prophets to historical figures such as President of the United States.
  • Is also an area that you can find your pioneer ancestors and find out which ancestors came across which wagon train or handcart.
  • In the old chapel, every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month will be a place where you can workshop family history. People will be there to help you. It will not be an official class but just time to actually work on your them.
  • The family history centers are built in 34 different countries. The one that is closest to us is located at 450 S. 1st West in Orem. You can also go to the BYU library from nine until 730 get help up there. You are encouraged to organize your papers before you go. Before you go, it would be wise to organized your paper work.
  • One of the nice things about the family history is that you will get palms of what work you can do that is specifically related to your ancestors.
  • You can also add photos. With everyone who has smart phones, people are encouraged to visit grandparents, aunts and uncles and take pictures of their pictures. Make sure the individuals in the photos are probably identified and even posting up on family history. That way the photos will never be completely lost.
  • There is a spot on the website that you can give yourself tasks.
  • In another section of the website that you can make a list of what people you want to keep an eye out for.
  • When you say were done by someone else is on your family
  • They will include their email and you can contact them.
  • When you are ready to submit temple paperwork, there are two conditions you need to check for.
  • The person you doing work for has to be hundred and 10 years ago and
  • They cannot be Jewish. The church is made an agreement with the Jewish people.
  • Family history has an option of duplicate accounts to counteract where there may be hundreds of repetitions of doing temple work for the same people. Catching duplicates helps prevent repeating work that has already been done.
  • You can print up to 40 temple ordinances at a time.
  • There is a contact option on the website to have missionaries answer questions or to help solve the problem.
  • We haven’t enough and vomiting is the menu person, you can click on that person and see their descendants (kids). On this page should be probably to the right to the left is the menu that you can point to other family history software can help you find additional information about outside the realms of search. The LDS church has made arrangements for members to get free memberships to these accounts and everyone benefits. Some of them are ancestery.com, my search, my heritage, etc
  • The phone number to call for help is 866 – 406 – 1830.

Spelling suicide:

Good: suicide

Bad:   suiside

I keep forgetting the C instead of S. but when I think of suicide I think of a knife cutting a wrist. So remember that suiCide often involves a knife (C) to Cut. We’ll see if that will help my spelling.

Tonight I attended a presentation by Gregory a Hudnall. He is from Hope 4 Utah. He gave some valuable information about suicide. This is the first half of my notes. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • 10 to 17-year-olds is the most prominent age for suicides
  • Most suicides can be prevented
  • Those planning to suicide will give some hints of their mental status by actions, words, circumstance
  • There are warning signs and risk factors that can help alert you to potential suicide
  • The hope 4 Utah went to school at 2100 kids and went into each English class and asked each student that which three people would you tell if you are thinking about so citing. When all the names were handed in they found that of the 2100 students there were 40 students that were represented on nearly everyone’s list. So the organization trained those 40 students to become aware of suicide signs. As a result, there were no suicides at that school for multiple years.
  • Usually, when someone is going to suicide they will admit it to somebody. But when admitted to their friends those friends were using not tell anyone else because are afraid of their friend be mad at him.
  • Hope 4 Utah performs the task of finding key students who can be trained to help others from suiciding. They go to different schools to find other students that can be trained to prevent suicide.
  • The website is hope4Utah.com
  • For adults, the points of stress are relationships, finances, and help.
  • For kids, the biggest point of stress is social image.
  • Youth today, believe that 74% of information on the Internet is true.
  • Teens would do about 1000 text the day on their smartphones and QD3 phone calls a day.
  • Kids today are forced to grow up too quickly because of the things they encounter through the media
  • 11-year-old girls of the most prominent group that suicide
  • Parents, if your kids are not connected to others you need to make an effort to have them connect.
  • Check out the book: hide N seek, it talks about how connections or important people’s lives
  • Research has shown that students who involved with activities such as band, clubs, or other student activities or less inclined to suicide and using have upgrades.
  • One student said they spent two weeks in school and not one person talk to them during those two weeks. Student’s sense of isolation is a key contributor to suicide.
  • Teachers are strongly encouraged to call upon each student at least once per class.
  • Most mental illness begins between the ages of 10 to 14.
  • Kids go to drugs was a makes them feel good. Kids suicide to get away from pain.
  • As adults doctors outside a Utah will encourage adults to address their moments of stress by drinking red wine. With LDS doctors in Utah that advice is not
  • Utah is the second highest abuse of prescription drugs
  • Utah County is the highest county in the state for the misuse of prescription drugs

At church, we are having a short term Sunday school on addiction. These are the notes for week 10. It was a short class this week. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • The apostle Peter believes in walking on water when he sees Christ do it. He fumbles in his faith and the Lord is there to help him.
  • Christ still appreciates the success of Peter’s earlier faith.
  • We need humility to help you maintain the grown you’ve experienced.
  • The Spirit can point you in necessary action and restitution.
  • At step 10 you are ready for a new life.
  • You can feel what you have accomplished in life by seeing how God has influenced your life.
  • The last three steps are maintenance steps.
  • There is a restoring of ‘some’ things that can be restored to some degree. An example is that a parent who has lost their family might be able to have visitation rights.
  • You no longer need to justify your actions. You accept responsibility now and in the future for your part.
  • One member of the group reference a nice poem called the Iron Rod that went into more details of the Lehi/Nephi vision expounding upon Christ’s atonement helping us. The class members found the poem but can’t find the author. It’s a nice poem:

Due to the election of Donald Trump. Many people on the left are very upset. The following is presented to illustrate that the emotions the left has today are many of the same emotions that the right experienced for the last eight years. Maybe there can be a little sympathy for both sides and better understanding.

  • 2012 TX succession, too much government control.
  • CA/OR succession, too much government control.
  • 2008 Nancy Pelosi you must pass Obamacare bill to read it
  • 2016 democrats want see what will replace Obamacare before passage
  • 2012 Obama was caught on live mic with Russia about him doing more once he’s reelected.
  • 2016 people concerns about Russia helping Trump win the election
  • Democrats arranged for backdoor deals for Obamacare call Lausanne purchase ; Cornhuskers kickback
  • Republican backdoor deal on Obama’s economic bill
  • 2008 conservatives expressed concerns about too much government control
  • 2016 democrat concern of too much control of government by democrats
  • 2014 business deny service for religious reasons
  • 2016 dressmakers deny business Mrs. Trump for political reasons
  • Voters in CA voted for proposition 8
  • Judge over rode the vote of the people.

When either of us want to get up on our high horse, we can consider the following:

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Spelling Havoc:

Good: Havoc

Bad:    Havic

I’m going to remember to include the O as a visual image. Think of an event of havoc. Our mouths are open because we are overwhelmed. Thus remember the O  in havOc rather than the I.

I found these notes from one of the presentations/panels I attended. I thought it contained useful information. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • When you pick up a story and read the first 10 pages you get to see what’s happening through
  • Characterization
  • advancing the plot
  • setting
  • If one of these things not happening in the story is not moving forward and you have exposition.
  • Plot generates emotion and action.
  • Characterization is the reason why events of the story matter to you.
  • When doing blocks of one of the above invites the reader to stop reading. The invitation is to do all three in each paragraph.
  • Blocks of settings is like speed bumps
  • Point of view is the story. What you’re pointed your character is thinking and feeling is what is happening in the story.
  • The most important things of a story characters, setting, plot
  • In the early draft have roughly what the character is feeling (shocked and surprised) rewrite may show how to replace flags by showing ready than telling.
  • Check out story a book the things they carry:
  • Do the same story or seen plot that change the point of view to someone else than your current POB.
  • Some examples of writing: Gilbert his hands and felt the warmth of the sun
  • Each character has a different script other characters are not having the same emotion or perceptions
  • The more specific you are the more likely you will be able to have more readers relate to your characters and receive an emotional response. Especially if you work more on the emotional level that intellect.
  • Narrative nonfiction is more interesting if a reader can see the emotions of the characters.
