Maintaining the Constitution, part B:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

This is the second half of one of the lectures at the book Mormon emergency preparedness conference I attended about a year ago. The topic is on maintaining the Constitution, a presentation by Sharan Anderson. Any misinformation or inaccuracy of my notes is the fault of the note taker.

  • We must remain a moral people. Freedom and morality must be partners. Moral is knowing what is right and wrong. If we interpret right and wrong then we can be motivated to do what we want and interpret what is considered to be right. God and government are natural partners. The government tells us what to do and religion tells us what is moral and what ‘should’ be done.
  • 1802 in a letter to a church, Thomas Jefferson’s letters of separated government from church has been misinterpreted.
  • One of the problems with political correctness is that it’s forcing the interpretation of what is right and wrong, morally, and restricts people from standing up for moral issues.
  • A quote exists, we cannot legislate what is right and wrong. But law does tell us what is right and wrong. Morality will always be leglisted by God.
  • Secular humanism is the religion that has replaced Christianity where man now worships himself. Man can change right and wrong and do what he wants. It’s an effort to separate Morality and religion.
  • If we don’t live Christian values we will lose the constitution.
  • We must be responsible. This involves right, balances and duty.
  • Rights are provided by God. They in inevitable. If we have the right there is a duty related to that right to pay for that right you possess. The duties tie into Christian principles.
  • One right we have the right to be treated equality. This does not mean the right to have equal stuff it means equal opportunity. You’re equal before God and before the Law.
  • The minute we make equality to cover same level of stuff or social activities. We end up doing a redistribution of wealth.
  • When we were given the bill of rights, they were very precise on defining which rights are from God.
  • There are people who have devoted a dependent mentality. It developed a welfare state. When some are asked what is entitlements means. Some feel that for people who don’t work will be helped by the government. In truth, most people are living on an entitlement. We have the benefit of the blessing of America but we don’t participate in local government and responsibilities. We should stay busy in doing good things.
  • During colonial times, people were on pins and needles waiting to see what the government was busy. When it became available it was printed in all the newspapers and the people read them. The Federalists papers explained more details. Today most people don’t even know what the constitution says. Those that don’t participate in our government are part of the entitlement community. We are challenged to start reading the constitution.
  • We must protect the constitution of the United States. Must keep the three groups of government in their original powers and responsibilities. Only 26 powers were delegated to the Federal government.  If one state fixed a specific problem they can show themselves as an example for other states to resolve similar problems. An example of an early version of Obama Care was tested in the state of Massa chutes. If it don’t work and was pushed at the Federal levels and is now failing in a larger scale.
  • Get involved in your community. On local government she is involved with stopping the advancement of Agenda 21 that is blossoming in city government.
  • At a county level, we fought against $75 million to will be matched by the Fed government to replace the bus rout in Orem/Provo.
  • In the state level, investigate where the new Prison will be located.
  • Be involved in local and state government. We need to combine with people of a similar mindset to run more effectively to do good four our country.
  • We need to prove to God that we care for American and are willing to work to preserve it for his blessings. We show God we mean business. Don’t give up. Pray, learn and do. In the end, we win. The prophets have prophesied that.
  • President McKay said there would be six questions we would be asked in our exit interview with the savior: The six questions was what did you do to make your world a better place.
  • The United States today is locked into pain and suffering. one person said American are in pain for lost jobs, high taxes, regulations are strangling us. the economy is strangling us. Our leaders lie, trapped in debt. and slavery because of our debt. Why are these problems not solved, because we have abandoned the principles of the constitution.

The difference between affect and effect:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

The interpretation of each word can be analyzed by the beginner letter of each word. A leads E the alphabet and so we’ll use that same order for their interpretation.

The A (of affect) is the letter before E (of effect).

So, Affect goes in the beginning of the sentence and is an Action to do something.

Effect is result/ recipient or End of the action done by the former.

Senses should convey an idea clearly:

Here are some notes I found at the top of my note pile. Most likely this is from a panel of LTUE. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • Make sure you use the word that is correct for meaning and interpretation
  • If you set up expectations and you don’t follow through, the readers will be disappointed.
  • Critique groups can find miss used words.
  • Speech tags need one every so often. Don’t put name by name. Real life is less.
  • You can help distinguish characters by this speech patterns
  • If there are more than two characters you need to implement more tags
  • It is recommended that you use beats with the use of ‘said’.
  • Your dialogue should indicate the tone of the story
  • Plot arc and story flow, does the character make sense?
  • Track chapter by chapter. Every plot line is colored coded. To help keep track of how information is weaved into a story. If you can’t find in highlight in a certain section it helps you find out that that plot line is a low point
  • Plot should always be moving forward
  • Show growth and change of character.
  • Look for repetitive words see how many words can be changed.
  • Look for missing words.
  • Double check all your fax. If using historical was invented by the time you’re writing about. Was it affordable?
  • Also check out when certain phrases or words were use a certain number of times or too close together.
  • The Webster dictionary will let you know some history about words and to tell you when that phrase was first used.

Ambiance: You can choose your soundtrack

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

I always learn great things at Toastmasters and one of the presenters gave suggestions when you want to choose a soundtrack for an event. Here are some his suggestions. This soundtrack may be for music video, background music for certain event etc.. Any mis-information is the fault of the note taker.

  • Determine the length of the music, so it fits within the timeframe of the event or a particular moment of an event such as a scene in a movie.
  • Music needs to match the event. If it’s scary, then have scary music. You don’t want to have romantic music during tense moment etc.
  • If you’re not certain what to do, then check out what other people have done for aa similar task. Let their work inspire you. Seek out what others have done that will help you determine your path. You can then alter their ideas to meet your circumstances
  • Beware of the copyright of the music you use. You can contact the owner of the music and ask permission. The original artist may restrict you as to where or you how long you can use it. A cost may be involved.
  • World safe free licenses: may be upfront to ask for pay to use for a certain amount of time. You may be asked to give the artist name or maybe how other people can access the music.
  • Free use is another avenue
  • You will want to be aware of certain concerns about volume. Volume of the song cannot blast out the words of the dialogue.
  • Do the words of the song match the circumstance of your event?. If the words don’t match that song may not be appropriate. Can you understand the words been song.
  • com is a good website for this type of activity

History of the Bible:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedin

This information was provided by a book collector who gave a lecture about some of his collection. He has been in the business for several decades. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • Bibles not available in 1247 to the general public. Each page was handwritten. Often one column of the page would take a full day to handwrite.
  • At the time of Christ the Old Testament was translated from Greek.
  • Jerome when he put together a first version of the Bible decidedly only used 24 books. He chose which books of the hypoxia would need to be removed.
  • John Woodcliff was a very impassioned priest who stood up against the boat until the Pope arranged for his death.
  • A group called the leewards got verses from the Bible and read them to the public which is very popular with the public but not popular with the church.
  • Printing press created near the year Columbus was born.
  • 1500 the first book was printed. These first print books were known as ‘incumabula’. In the 1500s it was illegal to have a Bible in English. In the 1400s five people were put to death when they got evidence that they read and taught their children from English Bibles.
  • William trying now had to make up words that never had a meaning before or in the various languages multiple words could mean the same word.
  • Henry VIII printed the first English version of the Bible.
  • 1800s was the first Bible that can be printed cheaply. Joseph Smith purchased a Bible for himself with a day’s wages. You can tell if you have a first edition by reading Ruth chapter 3:7. In the first edition the word he was used instead of the words she. Quote ‘she came softly,” and I has the pronoun he then it’s on a special first edition. If it has a she then the second fixed it
  • 1560 was the first edition of the Geneva Bible. It’s got over 100 editions since then. The unique trait about the Geneva Bible is a had notes that was commentary of making interpretation of who the great beast was. That is the Catholic Church or sign of the beast was a certain king.
  • Shakespeare quoted the Bible at least 1000 times in his plays. The Bible has not changed since the 14th
  • William Todale did a great translation.
  • The word fold using the Bible represents where multiple herds of sheep or corralled at night together. When the sheepherder comes to get his sheep, he calls them out and they followed his voice. The word that should have been used is flock. Flock is the word used for particular shepherds group of sheep.

This is one of the lectures at the book Mormon emergency preparedness conference I attended about a year ago. The topic is on maintaining the Constitution, a presentation by Sharan Anderson. Any misinformation or inaccuracy of my notes is the fault of the note taker.

  • To see how many of the rights we have lost we can compare what live was during the colonial days.
  • Presenter lived a year and a half in Italy. And there was not a sense of hope.
  • Found out that apartment manager who owns apartment cannot keep their own rent. The government gives him a syphon. He gets it if occupied or not. It takes 18 months to evict someone who does not pay rent.

Presenter created the following:

  • Promises of the Constitution. Describe each principle of the constitution from information gathered from multiple thick books. She turned it into a text book for home schools.
  • Ancient Israel, ancient America and the US constitution presentation.
  • DVD, humanism the tap of freedom
  • Constitution topics in video form that are 10 min video presentations on various topics.

How to remain free:

  • During colonization time people grew crops right up to their door.
  • In the 1700 was when the tooth brush was invented. Prior to that people would brush their teeth with snuff which would turn teeth brown.
  • Just invented the steam engine
  • In 1787, 55 men gathered at the Pennsylvania State house to create a new government.
  • Our government created a constitution that helped in creating a country where in 1905, the united states was producing 50 % of world goods, with 5% of the world’s land mass with 5 % of the world’ population.
  • The constitution of our founding has been largely abandoned today. We have a new constitution that has been disfigured by those in office today.
  • What is Government, Government is force. It can force you to do something you don’t want to do.
  • The original government split up duties and control over different parts of government so it can’t be abused.
  • There is a second constitution that has been created by a people to gain power.
