Be careful of our distractions:

I heard an important observation of the Bible reference to Peter walking on water. The scriptures reference three times of the disciples seeing Christ walking on water. Peter asks to join him and Christ reaches out his hand. Peter walks on the water to reach Christ. Then Peter permits himself to become distracted / diverted from his faith because of the storm around him. When Peter fumbles and begins to sink, he called on Christ to save him.

Christ does so and encouraged Peter to have stronger faith.

As we each live to be better Christians this is an opportunity for us to ask ourselves. What are our distractions? Do we concentrate too much of our lives to work, unnecessary diversions, entertainments?

I heard another comment where we show what we value by how much we spend our time with something. If we spend more time on entertainment it shows we value that more than God’s gospel. I can see where I spend too much time on my own diversions over what could better ways to spend my time.

I invite us to read the verses and then discuss as a family, class or group what each our or diversions might be. Discuss how we can enable God’s help to rededicate ourselves to him and his work.
