These are notes from a church meeting. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

    All things are spiritual:

– Where I say unto you all things unto me are spiritual never given a law that is temporal. Even temporal things have a spirit.
– Some members ignore to prepare and live within a budget and save in time of need.
– There are those who abuse positions of trust for risky financial behavior.
– Proclamation of the family says that fathers are to provide and protector.
– In 1975: welfare meeting Elder marfinastion: visit with a young couple. Both were educated. One question: who will manage the money? They had not talked about it
– 80% of divorces are based on the family is caused by mismanagement of money.
– Money management should take priority over how much money is made.
– Money management is a shared responsibility between a couple.

    Financial Agency:

– Ways to create financial agency that lives up to unity in marriage.
– Pay your tithing first, clerk notice that people who paid their tithing first, were financial ok.
– Live within your means.
– Pay a generous fast offering.
– Start your budget; spend your finances sufficient for our needs.
– Don’t compare yourself to others.
– Spend your money on family experiences.
– Buying used furniture and car instead of new.
– Budget in play money allotments, so each one that gives you a little freedom.
– Elder Perry talks about the value of interest. You can pay interest or earn interest.
– We are stewards over our possessions.
– Each dollar incoming is assigned.
– Dc 121: 36: rights of priesthood connected to heaven and upon righteousness.
– With your abundance use it to care for others.
– Kids can get part-time jobs (paper route) to earn money for the things they want to accomplish.
– Sometimes prioritize how we spend money on wise choices rather than wants.
– Be careful about making financial decisions based on emotion. Think of the sellers’ motivations on selling you something.
– We need to teach our kids financial principles and some of them that can be taught by example.
– There is a stake and ward unemployment specialist.
– The LDS church has an unemployment center provides a Self-reliance seminar.
– Pathways program has a means of continuous education. It gives you college credit. Attend Thursday night.
– Sometimes may need to sacrifice a home to live in apartments so you can go back to school.
– Keep up with your health. Bad health can influence your employment.
– Advice to youth: always work and seeking an internship in the field you re learning
– It’s never too late for education.
– 60-70% of people don’t have money saved for a $400 emergency expense.
– 10% of your check to goes to tithing and 10% to yourself in savings.
– Should have a $1000 emergency fund.
– Dc 72:4: For he who is faithful and wise in time is accounted worthy to inherit the mansions prepared for him of my Father.
– Time is money.
– Live on 90% of what we earn.
– Only invest in the things we are willing to lose.
