I found these notes from one of the presentations/panels I attended. I thought it contained useful information. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.

  • When you pick up a story and read the first 10 pages you get to see what’s happening through
  • Characterization
  • advancing the plot
  • setting
  • If one of these things not happening in the story is not moving forward and you have exposition.
  • Plot generates emotion and action.
  • Characterization is the reason why events of the story matter to you.
  • When doing blocks of one of the above invites the reader to stop reading. The invitation is to do all three in each paragraph.
  • Blocks of settings is like speed bumps
  • Point of view is the story. What you’re pointed your character is thinking and feeling is what is happening in the story.
  • The most important things of a story characters, setting, plot
  • In the early draft have roughly what the character is feeling (shocked and surprised) rewrite may show how to replace flags by showing ready than telling.
  • Check out story a book the things they carry:
  • Do the same story or seen plot that change the point of view to someone else than your current POB.
  • Some examples of writing: Gilbert his hands and felt the warmth of the sun
  • Each character has a different script other characters are not having the same emotion or perceptions
  • The more specific you are the more likely you will be able to have more readers relate to your characters and receive an emotional response. Especially if you work more on the emotional level that intellect.
  • Narrative nonfiction is more interesting if a reader can see the emotions of the characters.
