Funding the publication of your books:

I attended a writing seminar created by the publishers Black Card Books. They talked about how to be a successful l business entrepreneur by using books to promote your skills/business. Here are my notes on funding the publication of your book. Any inaccurate info is the fault of the note taker.

 Make a list of businesses who want to be in for in the front of your book but who services don’t compete with yours.

  • Make a list of the already established small to middle level companies that target advertising to your target audience. Don’t bother with large corporations as they take too long to make a decision.
  • If someone wants to see part of the book show that the first couple of chapters but put in each header draft. Big companies need to show that a book exists to be legal on the funding.
  • For a marriage book some of the advertisers might be a florist, planner, memo, dress, caterer, photographer, jewelry, DJ. In payment they get pre-published books distribute to their customers. You have only about 12 ads to pay for your book.
  1. Interview campaign. When you designate a certain time period to conduct an interview you keep to that time. If they ask for longer let them know you have other appointments.
  2. Just as you’re leaving you may want to say quote “one more thing. My publisher has a way for you to benefit from all the promotions and publicity when this book is launched. Is that something you want more information about at some point?
  • You can also ask it in contact them again to show which quote you use the book. As you introduce yourself you do not use yourself as your current occupation but rather that you’re an author.
  1. If you want to give your book an international flair then seek out interviews from people in other countries. Skype and other technologies can help you achieve this.
  2. You can measure your success by the number of interviews success rate. If you do seven out of 10 successful interviews you doing things correctly. When you interact with the interviewer your attitude as an author needs to be present.
  3. Buy now cards. These cards are used so people can buy your book prior to publication. Items on the card should include: book title, includes a free 30 minute coach session. Publication date, QR code, credit card information that can be torn off
  4. Sell ads. Resources the authors recommend are put in the back of the book. There will be only one person represented for a certain business. For each ad sold, that client gets a certain number of books to give to their customers.
  5. You can sell a feature profile. With some professional gives an article that provides a chapter in the book. This might be a two-page spread with the left side being a picture and bio and on the right side is a short article. The content needs to be useful information not a sales pitch example might be dress for success by a real estate business woman.
  6. Bonus chapter 10 – 20 pages complementary information that does not compete with your content. It cannot be a commercial that contain useful content. The law firm arranged to have written. This internal profile my cost $3-$4000 for a law firm that is a much money. When you ask for charges your charge is not from the mindset of what you can afford but they pay the value of what they’re getting.
  7. Sell a speech: someone may have a customer appreciation event. Create a presentation that will be useful to your target audience such as building children’s self-esteem. You market the event where parents of the school children are invited to come. Invite them for free. Bring books to sell, but indicate that part of the proceeds is going toward a certain charity. You never know when you need a copy of an order form, a copy of your book cover or video of your charity you support. On your person a USB port that will contain all three.
  • Blame your publisher for being pushy. Asking them to buy a certain number of books. As for the sale and then give a portion to charity. All charities have videos
