Teaching about the Holy Ghost:

Last week I referenced to great examples of teachers teaching religious principles to children. This week I like to share how one teacher told about the Holy Ghost. This teacher talked about how the Holy Ghost can provide feeling of comfort and confirmation to our lives. She discussed how the Holy Ghost can help us make decisions. I try to relay the lesson as best as I remember

She illustrated this principle by two great object lessons. She had the two children being baptized stand and turn their backs to the audience. She then said that you can listen to a familiar voice and recognize it. And when you recognize that voice to be a source you can trust and follow it. She then said I’m going to have someone call out and you tell me if you recognize the voice. The teacher then pointed to the first father of the first child and the father called out her name and the child recognized his voice. The teacher did the same for the second child and she recognized her father’s voice. She then made a comparison of how the Holy Ghost can become a familiar voice and we can learn to trust the Holy Ghost, as we strive to live worthy to receive, prompting of the Holy Ghost.

The second great example. She taught about how the Holy Ghost could be comfort. She then gave each little girl of warm fuzzy blanket. She let each child wrap themselves with their blankets, She made a comparison have the Holy Ghost can be a comfort to them, just as the blankets can be a comfort for the girls.

One thing that I thought was particularly brilliant about this is that the children can now take these blankets home and each time they use these blankets, they can make the connection of the blanket being like the Holy Ghost, and they can have a constant a reminder with them of the Holy Ghost being a comfort. By giving them the blankets to take home as the lesson can be taught again and again and again as the child reflects upon the blanket.

if you have a good way to teach the principle of the Holy Ghost, please feel free to share it in the comment section of this blog, please feel free to share it.
